Recently, we've had a few clients who were disrespectful to the veterinarians—it must be said that most are very respectful and pleasant—but these few negative interactions do impact a veterinarian's motivation and contribute to the large number of veterinarians leaving the profession. We have many years of study, we continue to train continuously, we are general practitioners with expertise in many areas, and we remain attentive to our clients. We must identify a list of potential illnesses based on their owners’ observations (the animals themselves cannot describe where they hurt), we accept emergencies and slot them in throughout our work day, we find solutions, and we follow up on our patients. Please understand that if we are running late for your appointment, it may be because we had to deal with an emergency or spend a little extra time with a client who was worried about their pet. You could be in this situation too, and we will give you our full attention. What is normal in human medicine—waiting—is often a source of frustration with the veterinarian. We care about your animals well beyond our opening hours. Please understand that while AI can provide some information about your pet's illnesses, this technology lacks perspective and a comprehensive view of your pet's history. It only answers specific questions you ask but doesn't understand the full context and is by no means infallible. Therefore, don't underestimate the role of the veterinarian; it is they who treat your animal with compassion and tenderness, not AI.
We ask that you remain polite and respectful towards us, just as we are towards our clients. We manage a workload while maintaining a professional approach, and above all, we take every interaction with you and your animals to heart, whether positive or negative. Communication is key. Let's remain open, calm, and keep the lines of communication open with respect. We are here for you. Be there for us.
