Didžiuojamės mūsų direktore Egle Marija Ramanauskaite, kurios darbas ir tyrimai bus pristatyti tarptautinėje ICAM konferencijoje. 💚
Tai svarbus įvertinimas ne tik Eglei, bet ir idėjai, kuria tikime kasdien – kad gyvūnų gerovė prasideda nuo pagalbos žmonėms, švietimo ir stiprių bendruomenių. 🐾
💛 "While working with and for animals, do not forget the people."
This is the message at the heart of Eglė Marija Ramanauskaitė's work in Lithuania, where she combines animal rescue, veterinary training and research to better understand the factors that shape companion-animal welfare in rural communities.
Eglė is the founder and director of Gyvūnų prieglobstis „Miško trobelė“, an animal rescue organisation working with rural communities to improve companion-animal welfare, access to veterinary care, and humane dog and cat population management. She is also completing her Veterinary Medicine degree at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
As part of our Community Engagement & Human Behaviour theme at the upcoming ICAM Conference (Monday 8-Friday 12 June), Eglė’s session explores how owner-related barriers to veterinary care can influence companion-animal population management in rural communities. Drawing on research from Lithuania, she examines both practical challenges and behavioural factors that can prevent owners from accessing routine veterinary care.
Eglė's work highlights the importance of supporting people as well as animals, recognising that effective population management begins at the household and community level, long before animals enter shelters or informal population flows.
📅 Don't miss Eglė's session, Owner-related barriers to veterinary care and their association with companion-animal population management in rural Lithuania, on Thursday 11 June.
