In the wake of devastating missile attacks on Ukraine 🇺🇦, “Hanna,” one of the most skilled members of the Antares search and rescue unit, who helped save hundreds of lives trapped under rubble, passed away on March 20.
Hanna’s story is truly remarkable. In early 2025, doctors diagnosed her with a severe, incurable illness and said she only had a few months left to live. But she defied that prognosis and continued working for nearly another year, taking part in rescue missions to find people trapped beneath debris in war-torn areas.
She served in some of the hardest-hit cities, including Dnipro, Pokrovsk, and Kramatorsk, helping locate more than 170 people buried under rubble.
In some cases, her sharp instincts even helped find survivors who were still alive up to seven days after an attack.
Hanna also played an important role in the “On the Shield” project, which focuses on respectfully recovering the bodies of fallen soldiers from the battlefield.
She never abandoned her duty, even until her final days. Hanna’s life reminds us that with true dedication and a sense of duty, even death itself can be defied.
