පින්නවල සත්වෝද්‍යානයේ නිලදාරීන් සදහා අල්ලස හා දූෂණ නිවාරණය සම්බන්ධ වැඩසටහනක් පවත්වනු ලැබිය. පසුගිය 2025.10.23 වන දින පින්නවල සත්වෝද්‍යාන අධ්‍යාපන ගොඩනැගිල්ලෙහි සිඳු කරනු ලැබූ මෙම වැඩසටහන සඳහා පින්නවල සත්වෝද්‍යානයෙහි මෙන්ම පින්නවල අලි අනාථාගාරයෙහි නිලධාරීන් ද සහභාගී විය.🙋🏼🙋🏻‍♀️
අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ දූෂණ නිවාරණ අංශයේ දූෂණ නිවාරණ නිලධාරි ශම්මි ශ්‍රීලාල් තොටවත්ත මහතා මේ සඳහා සම්පත් දායකත්වය ලබා දෙන ලදී. මෙම වැඩසටහන තුලින් අල්ලස දූෂණය වැලැක්වීම හා එහි ප්‍රතිවිපාක සම්බන්ධයෙන් ද, ඒ පිළිබඳව ඔවුනට පවතින ගැටළු හා සුපිළිපන්නභාවය යන සංකල්පය පිළිබඳවත්, නව දූෂණ විරෝධී පනත පිළිබඳවත් දැනුවත් කිරීම සිදු කරන ලදී.🙆🏼‍♀️🙆🏼🦉🪷

🎉 **World Children’s Day Celebration at Pinnawala Zoo!** 🐾🌍 🧑🏻 👧🏻

We were thrilled to host a special programme in collaboration with the Kegalle District Secretariat to celebrate **World Children’s Day** at **Pinnawala Zoo**! 🐯🐻🎈

The event was filled with joy, laughter, and learning as children from across the district joined us for a fun-filled day of educational activities, interactive games, animal encounters and much more! 🦜🎨🎉

A heartfelt thanks to the sponsers ,zoo staff, Kegalle divisional secratariet staff who participated and helped make this day a memorable one for our little visitors. 💙

The Moon Memorial Museum at the Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya will officially open Soon! 🎉🌳

Inaugurated under the guidance of State Minister of Environment, Hon. Anton Jayakody, this unique museum is dedicated to:
🌱 Protecting endangered plant species
🌱 Preserving valuable plant parts and specimens
🌱 Advancing research in plant genetics and gene conservation
🌱 Educating the public about ecosystems and their preservation

Visitors will experience fascinating exhibits including:
🍃 Dried plant specimens
🍃 Historical plant models
🍃 Insightful displays on biodiversity & conservation

As Pinnawala zoological garden, we believe plant conservation and animal conservation go hand in hand, because protecting habitats is the key to protecting wildlife. 🐾🌱

Shhh... have you seen the shy, magical gaze of our nocturnal wonder? 🌙✨

Say hello to the LORIS, one of Sri Lanka's most adorable and mysterious native primates! Those huge, round eyes aren't just for cuteness—they help it see perfectly in the dark as it moves silently through the trees.

🔍 Meet Sri Lanka's Loris:

Slow and Steady: They are slow, deliberate climbers, making them fascinating to watch.

Big Eyes, Bigger World: Their enormous eyes give them excellent night vision.

A Unique Native: They are found only in the forests of Sri Lanka and Southern India, making them a special treasure!

⚠️ They need our protection. Sadly, the Loris is endangered due to habitat loss and the illegal pet trade. Their innocent appearance makes them a target, but they are wild animals that belong in the forest, not in captivity.

At Pinnawala Zoo, we provide a safe and natural habitat for these vulnerable creatures as part of our vital conservation work.

Did you know you can journey to the island of Madagascar right here in Sri Lanka? Meet our charismatic lemurs! These fascinating primates are not monkeys; they are prosimians, a more ancient branch of the primate family tree.

Their scientific name, Lemur catta (for Ring-tailed Lemurs), comes from Latin, meaning "ghost" – a name given for their haunting calls and nocturnal habits. Sadly, these incredible creatures are now the world's most endangered group of mammals, with over 98% of species threatened with extinction, primarily due to habitat loss in their native Madagascar.

That’s why the work we do at Pinnawala Zoo is so vital! We are passionately committed to the ex-situ conservation of these remarkable animals. This means we care for them in a protected environment to ensure a safety-net population for their species.

A key part of this care is our Enrichment Programme! Our dedicated keepers provide:
🍎 Dietary Enrichment: Puzzle feeders and hidden treats to stimulate natural foraging behaviours.
🛝 Physical Enrichment: Climbing structures, ropes, and platforms to encourage exercise and natural movement.
🧠 Sensory Enrichment: Introducing new smells and sounds to keep our lemurs curious and engaged.

These programmes are essential for their physical health and mental well-being, helping them exhibit their natural behaviours and thrive.

2025.08.06 වන දින, පින්නවල මධ්‍ය මහා විද්‍යාලය හා යුනික් ජාත්‍යන්තර පාසලේ සිසුන් පින්නවල සත්වෝද්‍යානයේ අධ්නි‍යාපන චාරිකාවන්හි නිරත විය. සතුන් පිළිබඳ නව දැනුම හා සංරක්ෂණය පිළිබඳව අත්දැකීම් ලබා ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව උදා විණි.
