Choosing high-quality fish feed is essential for maintaining healthy, active, and beautiful aquarium fish. 💫❤️

Nutritious feed provides balanced proteins, vitamins, and minerals that support faster growth, stronger immunity, better digestion, and proper body development. 🐟🐠

It also enhances the natural colors of ornamental fish, improves breeding performance, and reduces the risk of diseases and fish mortality. 🐠🐟

Good quality feed creates less waste, helping to keep aquarium water cleaner for longer periods. ❤️‍🔥🐠

Although premium fish food may cost slightly more, it helps save money in the long run by reducing treatment costs and fish losses. 🫶🏽🐠

To keep fish healthy, always choose feed suitable for the fish species, avoid overfeeding, check expiry dates, and store the feed in a cool, dry place.🐠

Before setting up an aquarium for guppies, it’s worth understanding a few essentials about the species so you don’t run into avoidable problems later.

1. Basic species traits
Guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are small, colorful freshwater fish known for being hardy and beginner-friendly. They’re livebearers, meaning they give birth to free-swimming fry instead of laying eggs.

2. Tank size and setup
Even though they’re small, they need space. A minimum of about 40–60 liters (10–15 gallons) is recommended for a small group. They prefer planted tanks with hiding spots and gentle water flow.

3. Water conditions
Guppies thrive in:
Temperature: ~22–28°C
pH: 6.8–7.8
Clean, well-filtered water
Regular water changes (20–30% weekly) are important.

4. Social behavior
They’re peaceful and do best in groups. A common rule is 1 male to 2–3 females to reduce stress from male chasing.

5. Feeding
They’re omnivores. A mix of quality flakes, micro pellets, and occasional live or frozen food (like brine shrimp) keeps them healthy and colorful.

6. Breeding (very important)
Guppies breed a lot. If you keep males and females together, expect babies frequently. Without planning, your tank can become overcrowded quickly.

7. Tank mates
Choose calm, non-aggressive fish. Avoid fin-nippers, as guppies have long, flowing tails.

8. Filtration and maintenance
A gentle filter is best strong currents can stress them. Keep ammonia and nitrite at zero by cycling the tank before adding fish.

9. Lifespan and care commitment
They usually live 1.5–3 years, so they’re not temporary pets they still require consistent care.

Lighting???
Why???

Lighting isn’t just for looks, it's actually important for keeping fish healthy at home 🐟💡

🌞 1. Maintains Natural Day/ Night Cycle
Fish need a regular light and dark cycle just like in nature. Proper lighting helps regulate their sleep, feeding, and activity patterns.

🍽️ 2. Supports Feeding Behavior
Fish can see their food better under light. Without proper lighting, they may eat less or become stressed.

🌿 3. Essential for Plant Growth
If you have live plants, lighting is crucial for photosynthesis🌱. Healthy plants help maintain good water quality.

🎨 4. Enhances Fish Color & Beauty
Good lighting brings out the natural colors of your fish, making your aquarium look vibrant and attractive ✨

😌 5. Reduces Stress
Consistent lighting prevents sudden changes that can stress fish. A timer can help maintain a stable routine ⏱️

⚠️ Important Tip:
Avoid too much light (more than 8,10 hours/day), as it can cause algae growth and stress fish 🚫

👉 In short: Lighting = healthy fish + balanced tank + beautiful aquarium 🌊🐠

🐠 How to Choose the Right Filter for Your Fish Tank

1️⃣ Know the Types of Filters

• Hang On Back (HOB) – Easy to use, best for beginners

• Internal Filter – Small, quiet, saves space

• Canister Filter – Powerful, best for large tanks

• Sponge Filter – Simple, safe for baby fish & shrimp

2️⃣ Choose Based on Tank Size

• Small tanks (5–20 gallons) → Sponge / Internal filter

• Medium tanks (20–55 gallons) → HOB / Internal filter

• Large tanks (55+ gallons) → Canister filter

3️⃣ Check Filter Capacity

Always choose a filter stronger than your tank size
👉 Example:

40-gallon tank → choose filter for 50–75 gallons

4️⃣ Look for Important Features

• Good filtration (Mechanical + Biological + Chemical)

• Quiet operation

• Easy to clean & maintain

• Adjustable water flow

• Durable & energy efficient

5️⃣ Maintenance Tips

• Clean filter regularly (not too often)

• Wash media using tank water (not tap water)

• Replace media only when needed

• Never use soap or chemicals

6️⃣ Extra Tips

📍Don’t depend only on filter → do regular water changes

📍Good filtration reduces smell & algae

📍Use gentle flow for fish like betta

📍Use stronger flow for active fish

⭐ Quick Summary

📍Small tank → Sponge/Internal

📍Medium tank → HOB/Internal

📍Large tank → Canister

Starting an ornamental fish hobby is a great choice.

It’s relaxing, beautiful, and even a bit therapeutic.

But beginners often make a few classic mistakes, so it’s smart you’re asking first. Here’s a clear, practical guide to help you start the right way.

🌊 Choosing Good Ornamental Fish (Beginner)

Start simple. Don’t jump into rare or sensitive species.

✔️ Best fish for beginners:

🐟Guppy – colorful, hardy, easy to breed

🐟Molly – peaceful and adaptable

🐟Platy – very low maintenance

🐟Betta – beautiful, but keep alone

Goldfish – popular but need more space than people think

🐟 How to Pick Healthy Fish

At the shop, don’t just pick the prettiest one.

Look for:

🌈Active swimming (not hiding or floating weakly)

🌈Bright, clear colors (not faded)

🌈No white spots, wounds, or torn fins

🌈Clear eyes (not cloudy)

👉 If many fish in the tank look sick, don’t buy from that tank. And you can get advices from sales coordinator & aquariaculturist

🏠 Setting Up Your Aquarium

1. Tank size matters

Bigger is easier (minimum 2–3 feet tank is better than tiny bowls)Small tanks get dirty fast

2. Essential equipment

🌈Filter (very important for clean water)

🌈Air pump (optional but helpful)

🌈Light (for visibility and plants)

🌈Heater (only for tropical fish if needed)

💧 Water Preparation

🌈Never use fresh tap water directly.

🌈Let water sit 24 hours or use conditioner

🌈Maintain stable temperature (around 24–28°C for tropical fish)

Don’t change 100% water at once’ only 20–30% weekly

🍽 Feeding Tips

🌈Feed small amounts once or twice a day

🌈Only what they can eat in 2–3 minutes

🌈Overfeeding = dirty water + sick fish

⚠️ Common Beginner Mistakes

🌈Overcrowding the tank

🌈Mixing aggressive and peaceful fish

🌈Skipping water changes

🌈Overfeeding

Buying fish before setting up the tank

🌱 Simple Starter Plan

Set up tank + filter

🐟Run it for 2–3 days before adding fish

🐟Start with 3–5 hardy fish (like guppies or mollies)

🐟Observe daily

🐟Add more fish slowly
