Here is our July ❤️

She is urgently looking for a loving home!

July is one of our most calm dogs. She never fights and is fine with everyone ☺️ July is a real Jewel 💎 🥰 She must be a Labrador-Mix. She is very attached to humans. Rasika found her abandoned alone on the street two years ago when she was a small puppy. She was one of our first dogs and one of my biggest loves ❤️

Now July doesn’t want to go out to the garden, she doesn’t play anymore…She lays every day on the same place where she even makes her poo and pee…She has also no mood to play with our crazy 3 teenagers staying together with her. Her only friend is Dana who was with her and Nelly from the beginning. It is sad to see her like that 😢

I wish her so much a good life in Germany/Europe since I am very sure that this would be a better place for her. So please if anyone would like to adopt my lovely Jules we would be so thankful 🙏 She needs so much a loving family ❤️

When I come back to Germany my Sweet and me are sooo happy to be reunited 🥰 My sweet, smart and happy little Srilankan Mongrel ❤️ Actually Coco would have been a better name for her, since Christina & me rescued her from the „Coconut man“ when she was 3 weeks old and full of rash. Since that she is lucky to have travelled with me to a safe place ☺️ Now she is a „luxury“ doggy 😁 Every dog should have this luxury of being loved ultimately! ❤️❤️❤️ My Sweet is now 3 years old, 2 years in Germany and she is so happy with her new life ☺️ I am so thankful, she can enjoy it to the fulfill! Many thanks also to Jule Kriz who is taking care of her in my absence! Sweety loves her so much 🥰

Die nächste arme Seele 😢

In unserer Nachbarschaft haben wir den nächsten Hund mit Elefantitis gesehen. Diese Krankheit ist vor allem in Südasien ein Symptom für Filariose, die durch Moskitos übertragen wird und ohne Behandlung zu einem qualvollen Tod führt. Wir haben leider keinen einzig erfahrenen (!) Tierarzt in unserer Gegend, der konkrete Ahnung von einer Therapie hat. Der nächste wäre evtl. in Colombo, was für uns (ohne Auto) nicht machbar ist. Also probieren wir es selbst, mit unseren deutschen gespendeten Medikamenten und der Hilfe von Chat GPT. Leider haben wir hier und ohne finanzielle Hilfe keine andere Möglichkeit 😔 Ich wünsche mir von Herzen für diesen Hund, dass wir sein Leben retten können.

The next poor soul 😢

We‘ve spotted the next Elephantitis dog in our surrounding 😔 This disease is very common in Southasia. It is mostly a symptom for filariasis, which is caused by mosquitoes and will certainly lead to a painful death without treatment. Unfortunately we don’t have a single (!) experienced vet for this case in our area. The next one would probably be in Colombo what is too far for us to manage without a car. So what to do? We have to treat him ourselves with donated medicine from German vets and the help of Chat GPT. We don’t have any other possibility in Sri Lanka, especially without financial help 😔 I wish from the bottom of my heart that we can save this innocent life from much suffering. 🙏

We love all animals ❤️ We do not only rescue dogs. Every life is worth saving it! These two babies fell out of their nest. One we’ve already been feeding since some weeks with a syringe. Yesterday another small baby chipmunk fell out. Unfortunately it is their death to fall out to our ground as our dogs are real killing machines for every little being 😣

Amma & her 5 Babies

In unserem Ort hat diese süße Hündin zum x-ten Mal Babies bekommen. Sie ist die Mutter unserer Sophie, die wir damals wegen einem Beckenbruch zu uns holten. Jedes Mal wenn wir sie kastrieren wollten, war sie bereits wieder gedeckt 😣 Durch ihre vielen Geburten hatte sie bereits 2x einen Vaginalprolaps (ein Teil der V***a stülpt sich nach außen). Wir werden sie dieses Mal nicht verpassen und in der nächsten Woche kastrieren lassen.

Auch die Babies haben wir heute entwurmt und werden sie gegen Parasiten behandeln. Wir werden uns kümmern & sie füttern. Die meisten werden auch dieses Mal nicht überleben, da ihnen der Verkehr zum Verhängnis werden wird 😔 Was bleibt ist die Hoffnung…

In our village this sweet mother got babies for the umpteenth time. She is the mother of our Sophie which we rescued from a previous litter due to her pelvis fracture. Every time we wanted to spay her she was already pregnant again 😣 Because of the many births she has given she suffered 2x a vaginal prolapse. This time we will not miss her and spay her next week.

Also the babies we dewormed today and will treat them against parasites. We will take care and feed them though most of them will surely die in traffic 😔 What remains is hope…

Did you know that stray dogs wake up very early in the morning with the aim of looking for food and water to stop hunger?

If they find nothing, they start eating w**d to feel like they are chewing something, and then end up falling asleep all day, outside a house, at bus stops, trying to save what little energy they have.
When they wake up, the hunger has not gone away, on the contrary, it has increased and they go to the garbage bags.

Please help the street dogs, we don't pretend nothing has happened, we don't turn away. Many people chase them away, but they also belong to this world. Do not be indifferent, it is terrible to suffer from hunger and thirst and not be able to speak.

Street dogs just want to survive. If you see a dog, alone and looking for food, help him. Let's all save a life!

Wir brauchen Eure Hilfe! 🙏

Mittlerweile leben wir mit ca. 30 Hunden an unserem Wohnhaus und mussten noch ein weiteres Grundstück anmieten um Notfälle aufzunehmen. Zusätzlich versorgen wir täglich etliche Hunde auf der Straße. Wir füttern, impfen, versorgen erstmedizinisch, behandeln parasitär, nehmen verletzte Hunde/Notfälle auf etc. Das Elend auf der Straße nimmt leider zu und es gibt keine Unterstützung…Seit 3 Jahren finanziere ich alles selbst aus meinen Ersparnissen. Jetzt brauchen wir dringend Eure Hilfe! In the meantime we live together with 30 dogs at our house and had to rent another place for emergency rescues. Additionally, we take care of many more dogs out on the street. We feed, vaccine, give first medical help, treat against parasites, take injured dogs/emergency cases and so on…the misery for the strays is increasing snd there is no support…Since 3 years I finance all by myself from my savings. Vermisst mich Irgendjemand?

Rasika hat diese ca. zweijährige Hündin an der Galle Road in Maha Induruwa gefunden. Sie ist ein Rassehund (keine Ahnung welche?), nicht aus diesem Gebiet und sehr wahrscheinlich ausgesetzt 😔Da sie von anderen Hunden schwer attackiert wurde, hat er sie mit zu uns genommen. Wir haben die kleine Missy genannt ☺️ Missy ist super lieb und sehr gut erzogen! Man sieht, dass sie einmal ein Zuhause hatte. Aber sie ist auch noch verunsichert und trauert…warum und über wen wissen wir nicht…es ist nie einfach für ein geliebtes Haustier plötzlich mit solch einer Situation zurecht zu kommen 😔 die Süße muss erst einmal ihren Platz in unserem Rudel finden…

Vielleicht gibt es ja Jemanden, der sie vermisst?

Vielleicht ist sie entlaufen?

Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt, dass ihr Mensch sie wieder zu sich nimmt 🙏

Rasika found this approx. 2 year old female on Galle Road, Maha Induruwa. Obviously she was not from this area, surely dumped 😔 she is a pure breed dog (no idea which kind?). Since she was heavily attacked by other dogs Rasika took her to home. We called this little one Missy. ❤️

Missy is very well educated and friendly ☺️ You can tell she has had a home. But she is also very insecure and sad with this totally new situation. For whom she is sad for we don’t know 😔 it is never easy for a beloved pet to suddenly get along with this new situation. This Sweety has to find her place in our pack if her person doesn’t take her back…

Maybe someone misses her?

Maybe she just escaped?

Maybe her owner is looking for her and maybe he takes her back and maybe all was a misunderstanding 🙏

Maybe is her biggest hope 🙌

Dieser arme Schäferhund hat einen Besitzer!

Ca 3x die Woche fahren wir auf dem Weg zu Jessy an diesem Haus vorbei, haben diesen gerade erst 2 Jahre alten Rüde schon als Welpe vor Ort gegen schwere Räude behandelt…eine Nachbarin gab uns vor einigen Tagen Bescheid, dass der Hund eine schlimme Ohrinfektion hat. Als wir hinkamen, ging es ihm schlecht. Man sah dem armen Hund seine Schmerzen an. Leidend lag er alleine hinter dem Haus 😔Als wir den Verband entfernen, den sie einen Tag zuvor um die Wunde wickelten, war das Ohr bereits von Maden abgefressen und nicht mehr zu retten. Die Besitzer haben eine kleine Wunde nicht behandelt und somit dieses Tier so lange leiden lassen 😪 Wir ließen ihn vom Tierarzt behandeln und auch er wird viele weitere Behandlungen ertragen müssen bis er gesund ist. Zusätzlich zur Ohrwunde wurde ein weiterer Abszess entfernt, er ist stark unterernährt und verwahrlost. Wir werden uns kümmern und auch die Kosten tragen müssen, da die Familie das Geld nicht hat oder nicht für ihren Hund ausgeben will. Wir wissen es nicht. Aber wir wissen, dass dies nicht der Grund sein darf, dass dieses unschuldige Tier leidet und stirbt! Bitte unterstützt uns 🙏

This poor shepherd has an owner!

Approx. 3x the week we pass by this house on our way to Jessy, treated this only 2 year old male dog against bad rash when he was a puppy…a few days ago a neighbour told us that the dog has a bad ear infection. When we arrived there he was doing bad. You could see his pain, suffering alone in the backyard 😔 When we unveiled the bandage they put one day before we saw the ear had already been eaten by maggots and therefore it is lost. The owners just didn’t treat a small wound and so this animal had to suffer horrible pain for a long time 😪 we immediately brought him to vet and he will need many more treatments until he will hopefully be recovered. In addition to his ear wound he has another abcsess which had to be removed and he is very weak and malnourished. We will take care and we also will have to pay the ongoing treatments since the family does not have the money or does not want to spend it for their dog. We don’t know. But we know this must not be the reason why this innocent animal is suffering and eventually dying! Please support us 🙏

Dies ist Kelly’s trauriges Schicksal, das unbedingt erzählt und geteilt werden muss!

Ich wollte diesen Post schon längst schreiben aber mein Herz war zu schwer dafür…

Kelly war ein Strandhund.

Sie war krank aber glücklich und frei. Sie lebte mindestens fünf Jahre am Induruwa-Strand neben einem oberen Mittel-Klasse Hotel. An dieser Stelle würde ich gerne den Hotelnamen und den Verantwortlichen beschreiben aber wir müssen dafür leider Rache befürchten…

Wir lernten Kelly mit schwerer Räude vor ca. 3 Jahren kennen. Seitdem haben wir unzählige Versuche unternommen, ihre Haut in den Griff zu bekommen…leider vergeblich. Es ging ihr immer mal wieder etwas besser, vor allem wenn nette Touristen vor Ort waren, die sie täglich versorgten. Sie waren aber nach einigen Wochen wieder weg und somit Kelly wieder alleine. Wir haben sie stetig versorgt. Mit Futter, verschieden Medikamenten und Cremes. Leider wurde Kelly’s Genesung durch verschiedene Umstände behindert. Manche Locals meinten, Motoröl würde ihre Räude heilen…danach war ihr Hautbild natürlich wesentlich schlimmer. Und wieder mussten wir von vorne anfangen… die arme Hündin von diesem Dreck befreien. Ständig riefen besorgte Touristen (überwiegend Deutsche, die in besagtem Hotel urlaubten) an und baten um Hilfe für sie. Leider war das Einzige was wir noch tun konnten, sie regelmäßig zu füttern und zu cremen. Vor einigen Monaten hat der Hotelbesitzer sie an einem Strand einige Kilometer weiter weg ausgesetzt um seine Hotelgäste vor ihrem Anblick zu „schützen“.

Diese arme Hündin war völlig sich selbst überlassen, an einem ihr nicht bekannten Ort mit einer großen Gefahr für ihr Leben weil dieser Platz bereits mit anderen Strandhunden besetzt ist 😔Nachdem wir erfuhren wo sie ist, holten wir sie ab und brachten sie zurück an „ihren“ Strand. Kelly hat geweint, wir haben ihre Tränen gesehen 😢Rasika wurde danach von dem Hotelbesitzer angeschriehen warum wir die Hündin zurück brachten…er drohte, sie einschläfern zu lassen sollten wir sie nicht zu uns nehmen. Da wir 2km im Landesinneren mit 30 Hunden wohnen und Kelly ihr Leben am Strand verbrachte (und dort trotz ihrer Krankheit glücklich war:-)) wäre es nicht sinnvoll und für uns nicht möglich gewesen, sie aus ihrer gewohnten Umgebung zu reißen. Sie hätte ihre Freiheit als Strandhund sehr vermisst…

Wir machten uns nach dieser Drohung große Sorgen um ihr Leben und das leider berechtigterweise…

Christina von Dog Passion Sri Lanka erklärte sich bereit, sie an ihrem Strandland aufzunehmen bevor Schlimmeres passiert.

Aber es war leider zu spät 😔 Als wir den Hotelbesitzer nach Kelly fragten beschimpfte er uns wüst vor seinen Gästen.

Leider ist so ein Verhalten in Sri Lanka nicht unüblich. Die Menschen fühlen sich nicht einmal im Unrecht für ihre unmoralische Tat. Sondern wir sind die Schuldigen, da wir diese Hündin nicht zügig aus seinem Geschäftsfeld geräumt haben.

Kelly ist mittlerweile seit Monaten verschwunden und wird vermutlich nicht mehr auftauchen..der Hotelbesitzer hat anscheinend seine widerliche Drohung wahr gemacht.

Wir sind machtlos und unglaublich traurig für dieses verlorene Leben 😢

Du bist für immer in unserem Herz sweet Kelly ❤️❤️❤️ diese Welt war anscheinend der falsche Platz für dich. Niemand wird Dir jemals mehr schaden da wo du jetzt bist! Es tut uns so sehr Leid Liebes 😢❤️

This is Kelly’s sad story which has to be told and spread widely!

I wanted to write this post longer time ago but my heart was too heavy and still it is 😢

Kelly was a beach dog.

She was sick but happy and free. She has had lived the last 5 years at Induruwa beach next to a good ranged-middle-class hotel. Right here I would like to write the name of this hotel but we have to fear revenge…

We got to know Kelly with bad skin problems approx. 3 years ago. Since then we tried several times to heal her with vet help, different medicine and creams. Unfortunately not very successful…from time to time she was doing better, especially when some nice tourists took daily care of her. As tourists left after their vacation Kelly was alone again. But of course we always watched her and took care of her. Her healing was difficult as some locals thought it would help to put motoroil to her exhausted body. Of course her skin problems increased after this wrong treatment. And again we had to restart... All the time German hotel residents called for her help. If they only knew that the owner avoids any help…the only treatment we were able to continue was feeding and treating her. Some months ago the hotel owner abandoned her on the beach some miles ago. This poor dog was totally lost within an unknown area already occupied by a group of beach dogs. We found her literally crying. We took Kelly back to “her” beach. Afterwards the hotel owner screamed to Rasika why we took her back. He threatened to kill her. Since we live in the jungle with more than 30 dogs it was not possible and totally wrong to take a beach dog to our place. She lived her whole life on the beach it would have been too hard for her to take off her piece of freedom…

After this thread we were much concerned. My friend Christina from Dog Passion Sri Lanka agreed to take her in to her beachland. But obviously we were too late 😔

Kelly is now missing more than 3 months. For sure she will not return.

When we asked the owner where he put the dog he lost control and assaulted us in a very bad way in front of his guests. This behaviour is unfortunately not unusual for these people. They don’t even feel responsible for their immoral methods.

We, the ones who tried to protect this poor dog, are now blamed because we didn’t clean the owner’s business field fast enough. So sad but the painful truth.

We are powerless and incredibly sad for this lost soul 😢
