Cayman Islands pet import guidelines relative to COVID 19 controls.
19/11/2021

Cayman Islands pet import guidelines relative to COVID 19 controls.

Please be advised that the Cayman Islands Department of Agriculture (CIDOA) has updated its pet quarantine guidelines in relation to the COVID-19 virus for dogs and cats entering the Cayman Islands on or after November 20, 2021:

• For verified vaccinated travelers that are not required to quarantine, pets do not need to quarantine. Travelers can take their pets once pet inspection at the airport has been completed

• For pets arriving as cargo (unaccompanied), pet quarantine is not required. These pets can be collected by their owners once inspection at the airport is completed

• For travelers who are required to quarantine, our current pet quarantine guidelines will apply
o For travelers who are quarantining at private properties – The CIDOA must review their quarantine property and verify that it meets our guidelines for pets quarantining at home. Pets will be required to follow the same guidelines being followed by their owners; i.e. no contact with other persons or dogs

o For travelers who are quarantining at condominiums, and hotels – The CIDOA must receive a letter or email from the management or owner of the property confirming that their pet is allowed to quarantine at the property. Pets will be required to follow the same guidelines being followed by their owners; i.e. no contact with other persons or dogs

The above guidelines may change from time to time. Please contact us or visit our social media pages for updated information.

Please do not hesitate to contact us by using our Veterinary Services Team email address: [email protected] or by calling us on (345) 947-3090 should you need further clarification.

Planning on remaining on island?

Have your veterinarian’s phone number in a container.

Have a current photograph of your pet, and a list of identifying features just in case you have to identify your pet(store in a water tight container)

Have a carrier ready should you need to evacuate and are able to take your pet.

Keep a collar with identification on your pet(address, phone number etc.), and a leash on hand to control your pet (muzzles, should your animal become panicky or distressed) .

Have clean-up items such as bleach, newspapers, plastic bags, paper towels and grooming items.
