From day one Iโve put a lot of efforts to develop her drive to engage and play. Not every dog is born to play with you, but they must learn how to. Why bother teaching her to play with me when she can entertain herself? The benefits of interactive play are;
- building trust and relationship with your dog
- making a reward event without food
- exercising your dog and providing biological fulfilment
She preferred to just sit and watch rather than come to me and play, but weโre making a progress and this is where weโre going at the moment.
We spent as much time as needed to build strong foundation. She responds to clicker even when sheโs sleeping and even when sheโs given a bowl of food, clicker is loaded.
@baby_girl_daffodil gives up food in a bowl to come back get one piece of kibble because a click sound can mean anything. Reflexive response and now sheโs ready to train.
