Automatic cow drinkers are designed to give cattle constant access to fresh water without needing someone to refill troughs manually.

1.Water supply connection๐๐
Theyโre connected to a main water source (like a pipe, tank, or borehole). Water flows into the drinker through a pipe.
2. Float valve system
Inside the drinker is a **float valve**, similar to whatโs in a toilet tank:
* When cows drink, the water level drops.
* The float goes down with the water level.
* This opens a valve, letting more water flow in.
* As the bowl fills back up, the float rises and shuts the valve off.
This keeps the water level constant automatically.
3. Push paddle / nose-operated systems (alternative design , limited stock )
Some drinkers donโt stay full all the time:
* A cow pushes a paddle or lever with its nose.
* This opens a valve and releases water.
* When the cow stops pushing, the water stops.
These reduce waste and keep water cleaner.
4. Heating or insulation (in cold areas)
In colder climates, drinkers may have:
* Built-in heaters, or
* Insulated designs
to prevent water from freezing.
5. **Drainage and cleaning**
Many models include:
* A drain plug for easy cleaning
* Smooth surfaces to prevent dirt buildup
Why farmers use them
* Saves labor (no manual filling)
* Provides constant fresh water
* Reduces water waste (especially paddle types)
* Improves animal health and milk production
