Let’s Talk About Mineral Salts for Your Animals!

Mineral salts are essential for animal health — they support growth, fertility, milk production, strong bones, and general immunity.

There are two main types of mineral salt supplements:

1️⃣ Force-fed salts (e.g. in powder or crushed form)
These are added to feed or water — the animal must take them. Useful when animals are weak, recovering, or need a specific boost.

2️⃣ Salt licks or mineral blocks
These are hung or placed in the shed, and animals lick them as needed. They regulate their intake based on body needs. Great for routine maintenance and dry season support.

We offer farm visits, general extension services and tailored consultation as per your farm needs

Doc, one of my goats is crazy!
Coenuriasis (local names; Gid, staggers, and sturdy.) caused by the larval stage of the tapeworm Taenia multiceps. These larvae, called coenuri, migrate to the central nervous system (CNS) of sheep/goats, primarily the brain leading to various neurological symptoms. Symptoms include;
-frenzy, convulsions, salivation, dullness, head pressing, head deviation, circling, and blindness.

Leading to the layman's diagnosis of sheep and goats being mad/going crazy. Reach out to us for the best deworming program for your flock.

Nails and sharp objects
Did you know cows unknowingly consume nails and other sharp objects that are mixed up in their food? What happens when cows have nails in their rumen/reticulum (Read stomach)?

Hardware disease in livestock is traumatic puncture of the gastrointestinal tract with resultant spread of infection, caused by ingestion of a sharp, hard object, usually a piece of hardware (hence the name). These pieces of metal settle in the reticulum (read stomach) and can irritate or pe*****te the lining. “Hardware disease” is the common term for traumatic reticuloperitonitis or traumatic reticulopericarditis (TRP).

The cow exhibits an arched back, a reluctance to move and a slow, careful gait. The cow may groan when lying down, getting up, defecating and urinating. In most cases, sudden death is the only clinical sign the farmer can see.

All cows above 1year should have rumen magnets to prevent TRP. Reach out to us for a quote 0715292155

*Poultry*
We started a daily series, so far we have covered 6 different species of animals we deal with. Today, Day 7, is the last day. Let's talk about poultry and the various cases we encounter in our day to day delivery of Vet services.

- vaccination - vaccination is the most important part in all types of poultry productions. Without vaccination, the whole project becomes a game of chance with the deadly diseases that crop up.
- Clinical cases - birds are prone to minor infections that end up causing major problems. Respiratory system infections are the most common
- Consultation on proper feeding - in medium and large scale farming, feeding forms a significant part of the production. Proper feeding ensures good returns on investment.
- Consultation on structures and equipments - different breeds of birds require different types of structures. Getting everything right will save on additional costs on clinicals cases
- External and internal parasites - elimination of this pests improve the general health of the birds and overall performance.
- Sales and purchases - we link up farmers to great sources of chicks, and great markets for their products.
