8 things vets wished every pet owner knew.
1.Annual check ups are not optional. Your pet may seem fine, but early signs of illness may often go unnoticed. Tests and even physical exams can detect problems before they become serious.
2.Dental disease
Not only is bad breath gross, but it is also critical to the overall health of your pet.
3.Google is not a veterinarian. Much as we appreciate and love informed owners, don't entirely rely on Dr. Internet. If something seems off with your pet, please call your vet.
4.Never give your pet over-the-counter human meds. They can kill your pets. Ibuprofen, or even Tylenol can be deadly.
5.Not all treats are safe. Chocolate, grapes, onions, xylitol are all dangerous. When in doubt, ask before giving.
6.Vaccines can save lives. Parvo. Rabies. Distemper are horrendous diseases when your pet catches them. Vaccines aren't a luxury but are protection.
7.Behaviour issues are health issues too. When a pet becomes suddenly aggressive, anxious or anorexic, don't ignore it.
8.Veterinarians care deeply about your pets. We feel terrible when we lose patients. We celebrate when they recover. We chose to be vets because we care deeply.
