But do you know why they are called German Shepherds? German Shepherds are dogs which carry the initials HGH (Herdengebrauchshund) which is German for herding dog. The Sheep-herding Association was the body that developed the rules and qualifications of what were required for a dog to be able to carry the initials HGH.
