We understand your concerns following the tsunami warning issued at 10:10 AM JST today for Japan’s Pacific coast, from Hokkaido to Wakayama, due to an earthquake east of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula.
Rest assured, Pet Holiday is located 30 meters above sea level and over 1 kilometer inland, well outside the risk zone for tsunamis. Your beloved pets are safe and being cared for as always.

My name is Roel Rodriguez (Rod). My wife Mari and I own and operate Pet Holiday, a licensed pet care facility in Yokosuka. Before building the business, we bought a dog at Shimachu Home’s and named her Tara. I made a hobby kennel in the backyard of our home in Sanomachi for training and quality of life for her. We found a family owned pet hotel and became close to them. We would help them with their business at times, and with their graces, we decided to start our own venture.
Before long, we earned a Japan Pet Care Association license and started Pet Holiday.With help from local contractors, we built a commercial kennel using shipping containers. The staff and facility at Pet Holiday represent years of experience with caring for pets resulting in innovations such as double door access to private rooms, heated flooring, camera surveillance, dig/ jump proof perimeter fencing, and more.
Our mission is to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment full of amenities and activities to satisfy any pet. We have dedicated our efforts to providing SOFA members, and the local community in Yokosuka with a boarding facility that accepts any pet, without permanent cages, without a selection process, with reasonable rates, and without culture barriers. We have never turned a pet away for any reason other than capacity. We work on a flexible schedule for your convenience, and we consult with other professionals in the local area for grooming, training and 24-hour veterinary services.
Pet Holiday is located in Nagasaka near Sekiguchi Farm and Myoshirushi Temple; Google Maps marks the location. The facility consists of comfortable private accommodations and 2 large dog runs. We live on site as an added security measure so that we can give personal attention and care to our guests. Parking is available on our road.
