In the final installment of our interview with Sara Kozumplik, she shares how her journey into equestrian sports began—and the people who helped shape her along the way. 🐴💬
Sara credits her mother, who owned a riding school, as her earliest and most influential mentor. Growing up with access to horses—and the opportunity to train around the world thanks to her father’s military career—gave her a unique and solid foundation in the sport.

She also reflects on her time in Pony Club, which played a major role in developing her riding skills and discipline. But it was a key introduction to legendary coach Jimmy Wofford that became a turning point. With his guidance, Sara was able to overcome her fear and gain the confidence to fully pursue Eventing.

Her story is a testament to how mentorship, early exposure, and strong support systems can ignite lifelong passion and success. 💫

During Part 2 of our visit with Sara Kozumplik at Overlook Farm South, she broke down the three distinct disciplines that make up the sport of Eventing—often referred to as the triathlon of the equestrian world. 🏇🏅
1️⃣ Dressage – Often compared to ballet on horseback, this phase requires precision, control, and grace as horse and rider perform a series of carefully choreographed movements.

2️⃣ Show Jumping – A test of agility, accuracy, and timing, where horse and rider navigate a course of fences and obstacles within a time limit.

3️⃣ Cross Country – The most thrilling phase, taking riders over a variety of fixed obstacles such as logs, water, ditches—even hedges or cars! 🌿🚗

Each phase demands a different skill set, making Eventing one of the most challenging and well-rounded disciplines in equestrian sport.

Huge thanks again to Sara for taking the time to share her knowledge and walk us through what makes this sport so special. 🙏🏡🐴

PART 1:

We had the incredible opportunity to visit 5⭐️ Eventer and Grand Prix Show Jumper at Overlook Farm South in Ocala, Florida. 🐴✨
While there, Sara shared her journey into Eventing, along with powerful insights into the unique and essential bond between horse and rider.

In equestrian sports, it’s never just about the rider—it’s about partnership. Through time, trust, and training, both horse and rider grow together, becoming one team… two hearts beating as one. ❤️🐎

🎉 Fun Fact: The hashtag —which beautifully captures this connection—was actually coined by our very own Betty “Mother Wates” of in Bog Walk, 🇯🇲.
