🐾 Research Shows the Impact of Aversive Training Methods on Dogs 🐾

A study published in Scientific Reports found that dogs trained using aversive methods, such as shock collars or punishment-based techniques, exhibit a "pessimistic" bias. This means they are more likely to interpret ambiguous situations negatively, which can affect their overall mood and welfare. In contrast, dogs trained using positive reinforcement showed quicker responses and a more optimistic outlook.

This research highlights how aversive techniques can lead to long-term stress and anxiety in dogs, reinforcing the importance of using humane, reward-based training methods 🐶💙

What a treat for Jersey vet staff and fabulous to see so many there. Island pet care givers will benefit tremendously from this. Thanks “Behavioural Referrals”. https://behaviouralreferrals.co.uk/
