He used to meet me at the door every single night. Seven years — never once missed it. Even toward the end, when his back legs were giving him trouble, Baron was still there. Tail going. Eyes lit up. Like coming home was the greatest thing that had ever happened to him.

He passed in January. The house has been quiet in a way I didn't expect.
