"Dog-leg" whip with a very unique thornwood cane.
It's rare to find these shapes, which lend themselves to being whips.
The kangaroo leather thong is attached to the cane using a classic technique based on the materials used and secured with goose quills.
The handle, however, is slightly different from my other whips; "dog-leg" whips were created for rainy days; the curvature of the cane prevents raindrops from reaching the hand.
Despite its twisted shape, the cane is perfectly aligned with the thong and feels balanced and comfortable in the hand.
The choice of covering, with a raised spiral, makes for an easier grip and was favored by old-time Coach drivers, who drove in all weather conditions.

The "P.'s Whips" were not born to be "commercial" whips, my passion as a whip maker began when I started driving carriages as a boy.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to have in my hands the whips made in the 1800s, see important collections, restore several old whips, this has allowed me to see the differences with modern whips.
A "P.'s Whips" starts from top quality materials, thorn or holly or rattan sticks, kangaroo skin, silver plates, brass, nickel silver, whale baleen, goose feathers.
It takes about 50 steps and hours of work to get to the end, and it often also takes the work of other craftsmen such as silversmiths and engravers or gilders. For this reason alone, they cannot be cheap whips.
This is why the "P.'s Whips" are unique products, there is no one equal to another.
