Available:
A lovely whip with a curved stick, giving it a "dog's leg" model.
The wood is thorn, with all its thorns concentrated in the central part.
It has been treated to make it durable, then colored and finished with multiple coats of carnauba wax, making it completely waterproof.
The thong is finely woven with kangaroo leather and is perfectly tapered. It ends with a red lash, easily replaceable.
It has a beautiful curved shape, created by the traditional materials used to construct it and attach it to the shaft, materials described in previous works.
The cap and ferrule, made of German silver and plated in 18ct gold, make this whip truly precious.

This whip was designed with a lady driver in mind, with dimensions suitable for driving pony-class carriages or similar.
Its elegance lies in its simplicity, yet with the use of classic materials, such as the thornwood stick treated with oils and a wax finish to preserve its durability.
The finely woven kangaroo leather thong is perfectly tapered, in a natural leather color to differentiate it from the classic ivory white.
The handcrafted handle, reminiscent of the thorns of the cane, is made of German silver and finished with 925 silver. It tends to darken over time if not polished.

"Dog-leg" whip with a very unique thornwood cane.
It's rare to find these shapes, which lend themselves to being whips.
The kangaroo leather thong is attached to the cane using a classic technique based on the materials used and secured with goose quills.
The handle, however, is slightly different from my other whips; "dog-leg" whips were created for rainy days; the curvature of the cane prevents raindrops from reaching the hand.
Despite its twisted shape, the cane is perfectly aligned with the thong and feels balanced and comfortable in the hand.
The choice of covering, with a raised spiral, makes for an easier grip and was favored by old-time Coach drivers, who drove in all weather conditions.

The journey in Sicily continues with the traces of the Carretti Siciliani "
(Sicilian Carts). Catania ,Modica, the baroque style of Noto, a visit to a restoration workshop. The decorations of the "carretti" often, but not always, depict the deeds of the French Paladins (The Song of Roland) which are the same as those of the "Opera dei Pupi", puppet shows that have been part of the Sicilian tradition since the beginning of the 19th century.

Starting this new year by presenting this whip for four in hand.
I'm satisfied with this work, it's a beautiful thorn stick, the wood I love most. For the color, I chose what I call "Swaine yellow," after the color of many whips from the famous English maker.
The thong, as always, is made of kangaroo leather; I couldn't weave anything else. It's an expensive leather, but it's the most resistant to wear. It's the leather used for professional motorcyclists' suits.
The color is ivory; I can't stand bright white.
The handle is the work of an older craftsman, who sculpted a horse's leg using "avoriolina," an artificial material already produced in the 19th century, composed of cellulose, resins, and bone powder, or when ivory was available. The very simple ferrule is made of 925 silver.
This whip is currently crossing the ocean.

I've seen that friends like old photos.
I worked for 30 years on a stud farm, breeding only stallions.
I had various roles, from managing a stable to performing artificial insemination, but what I enjoyed most was taking care of the carriage collection, breaking in and driving horses.
The Royal Stallion Depot of Crema was founded in 1817 to improve the horse breeds, then considered indispensable for the army. There have been various transfers of state authority, etc.
Despite its ancient history, like the various stud farms founded during the Napoleonic era throughout Europe to supply horses to the army, Crema was closed in 2000. I inventoried the carriage collection and closed the gates; it was a sad day.
