People For Animals “Karunashram" Rescuing domestic and wildlife since 1998 in Wardha District.

People for Animals (Wardha) was founded in 1999 and was developed as an initiative of a few young people with the intention of protecting the basic rights of animals that are ill treated, injured or abandoned. Our organization has grown over the years and does many activities such as stray dog sterilization, anti-rabies programs, first aid camps for animals, rehabilitation and adoption of abandone

d animals. Besides this, the shelter is also legally authorized to treat and house wild life which it actively does.

*A Life Saved Through Timely Intervention*

Organophosphate poisoning is sadly common in birds, often caused by ingestion of pesticide-treated grains. These chemicals vary in toxicity, but birds are extremely sensitive to them.
This peafowl was rescued and brought to us by the Forest Department. On examination, he showed alarming signs—ataxia, inability to bear weight, blurred vision, and excessive salivation. Based on these clinical findings, organophosphate poisoning was strongly suspected.
Immediate treatment was initiated, and we’re relieved to share that he is now showing clear signs of recovery. The peacock remains under close observation and is receiving continued care at our facility.

After successful treatment and close monitoring at our facility,
the peacock was declared fit and released back into its natural habitat.

Every wildlife rescue is a reminder that our choices matter. Responsible pesticide use and timely intervention can save lives and help protect our precious natural heritage.
Let’s coexist responsibly.

A pangolin rescued from the Deoli region by the Forest Department was found with a nylon net tightly stuck around its neck. Acting swiftly, the animal was shifted to our PFA Wildlife Rescue Facility for urgent care.
Under gaseous anesthesia, the nylon net was safely removed and thorough wound debridement was performed. The pangolin was weak, dehydrated, and lethargic due to poor appetite and the severity of the injury, but with dedicated treatment and monitoring, it gradually recovered.
After confirming it was fit and stable, the pangolin was successfully released back into its natural habitat—where it truly belongs.

🌿🐍 Good morning, folks! 🐍🌿

“I know how beautiful I am—a Green Vine Snake!”

This stunning Green Vine Snake  was recently rescued and safely released back into its natural habitat. Known for their slender bodies, vibrant green scales, and mesmerizing eyes, these mild-venomous snake species play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance by preying on small reptiles and amphibians.

Despite their intimidating appearance, Green Vine Snakes are harmless to humans and rely on their incredible camouflage skills to blend seamlessly with the foliage. Remember, every creature has its place in nature—rescue, protect, and respect wildlife!

Sir Ratan Tata’s compassion extended far beyond the four walls, touching the lives of countless individuals and animals alike. His deep empathy for all living beings was at the core of his life’s work, as he championed the causes of both animal welfare and community development. He understood that the true measure of progress lay not only in economic growth but in how we care for the vulnerable, including animals. His belief that human development must coexist with the preservation of nature shaped the philanthropic vision of Tata Trusts, which supported numerous initiatives aimed at fostering harmony between humanity and the natural world.
In 2018, this philosophy of compassion found expression in Tata Trusts' support for the "Sangharsh" project, a six-month pilot initiative launched by People for Animals (PFA) Wardha to address human-wildlife conflict near Bor Tiger Reserve. With Tata Trusts' funding, PFA Wardha implemented innovative and sustainable solutions, such as natural crop protection techniques and educational programs for local communities. These efforts empowered people to coexist with wildlife, fostering a deeper understanding of how to prevent dangerous encounters with animals. The project not only minimized conflict but also created a harmonious relationship between the rural communities and the wildlife that shared their land.

Shri Ratan Tata’s visionary leadership and dedication to compassionate causes allowed the "Sangharsh" project to achieve significant impact, and his legacy lives on through the continued support of Tata Trusts. The publication of PFA Wardha’s work in Tata Trusts' 2020 magazine, Horizon, reflects the lasting influence of Ratan Tata’s values on animal welfare and community well-being. His belief in the interconnectedness of all life remains an enduring source of inspiration for PFA Wardha, as we work to fulfill his vision of a future where humans and wildlife can thrive together, side by side. RIP to a true legend, whose compassion will forever guide us forward.
