📍A non healing Facial Ulcers in Cats – Could It Be Cryptococcosis?
We recently examined a cat with a persistent ulcerative lesion on the face. One possible cause of such lesions is cryptococcosis, a fungal infection caused by Cryptococcus species. This disease commonly enters through the nasal cavity and may lead to nasal discharge, sneezing, swelling over the nose and face, non-healing ulcers, eye involvement, and in advanced cases, neurological signs.
Early diagnosis and appropriate antifungal treatment can significantly improve the chances of recovery.
If your cat develops a persistent facial swelling or ulcer that does not heal, seek veterinary attention without delay.
