Throughout my professional life, I’ve had managers/bosses who were extremely strict about me doing my job with perfection, at the same time cared for my well-being. You know the type of people who deeply care but don’t express!!
My first job was the role of a barista at a Starbucks franchise in Ontario, Canada. This was when I had first moved there with little knowledge about Canadian currency or how to even make coffee. My boss Joan, an amazingly bold lady, taught me everything from scratch to the point where I received a couple of “Employee of the Month” rewards. She was not very sweet to me, but I knew deep inside she cared. At one point, she gifted me a bicycle with the intent to make my life easier to transit between work and college and save on time.
Second job, in India.. a Chinese-origin and one of the cofounders of the company was my manager, yet again very stern with a display of uncaring attitude.. I learned multiple new skills thanks to his nagging and scoldings. But you know there was this one time he came to me with a bunch of skincare products (brought those from USA) because he noticed I wasn’t looking after my skin enough and was working too hard.
Long story short, I just want to say that I decided to adopt the same attitude when I started Doggy Culture. I am very strict with people who work alongside me. But they also know how in many ways I deeply care for them, hopefully!
Look at Sonia today smiling because her treats turned out perfectly and she’s proud of her work!!
