The sloth bear Rani; 35 years old and one of the oldest bears in the country; welcomes everyone to her third new home starting from a tiny space at Municipal Zoo Gandhi Park, Shimoga in 1990s to a medium sized menagerie with a huge tamarind tree in the middle at Tiger-Lion Safari, Tyavarekoppa to the current immersive enclosure constructed as per the Central Zoo Authority standards.

The new enclosure is a tribute to her, who has contributed to her species conservation by being a subject for nature education to the zoo visitors for 35 years. Let us all celebrate with our sloth bears this occasion with honey, dates, milk and coconuts to record a fond memory for lifetime
