☀️Summers are Here☀️..... ....A healthy summer routine for dogs involves doing outdoor activities during early mornings or late evenings, providing constant access to fresh water, and utilizing indoor areas for low-intensity playtime. Daily routines should include checking pavement temperatures (5-second rule), offering cooler / frozen enrichment treats, and monitoring for signs of overheating like excessive panting.

*Companion Animal Bonding Session for Individuals with AUTISM*
The Dog Town
(Pet Resort & Adventures)

*Introduction*
We recently conducted a companion animal interaction session for a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The purpose of the session was to utilize the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship to support the child’s social, emotional, sensory, and behavioral development. The companion animal for this session was Primarily LEO (Labrador retriever) who is a Designated Therapy Dog

*Objectives of the Session*
1. To promote emotional regulation and reduce anxiety through animal interaction.
2. To encourage communication—verbal or nonverbal—using the animal as a social bridge.
3. To improve sensory integration by engaging the child in tactile and proprioceptive activities.
4. To build confidence and support positive behaviors.
5. To facilitate engagement, attention, and participation within a structured yet enjoyable setting.

*Session Structure*
Duration: 45–60 minutes
Location: Controlled therapy environment with minimal sensory distractions
Participants: Child, therapist/facilitator/Parent, companion dog, handler
*Session Flow:*
1. Introduction and rapport-building with the animal
2. Warm-up activity (observing the dog, simple touch)
3. Guided interaction activities
4. Independent choice-based activities
5. Cool-down and closing routine
Session Description - Initial Interaction ONLY
The child was introduced to the therapy dog gradually. (after sensing the child’s comfort, a couple of more human friendly dogs were introduced as well, under total supervision)
The dog(s) sat calmly, allowing the child to approach at their own pace.
• The Handler & Parent encouraged gentle petting and hand-smelling to develop comfort.
• The child gradually warmed up to the interaction without much hesitation.
This phase was aimed to build trust, reduce anxiety, and create a predictable environment.

- Continued participation in animal-assisted sessions is recommended to further support developmental goals and enhance therapeutic progress.

🐾Post 1: The Calling...

Some dreams are not dreamt by us, and some passions are not ignited by us, but instead, we carry them deep within us — even before we are aware of them. For me, that was caring for dogs. Being around dogs was my biggest joy as a kid — and it continues to be, to this day. As I grew older, that joy found a new dimension: a deep desire to be in service of dogs.
Unleash was born of that calling on 01 Nov 2015— to provide best-in-class care for dogs, prioritising their comfort, health, play, and safety.
Today, as I look back, I feel immense pride, joy, and gratitude in acknowledging 10 successful years of Unleash-ing over 50,000 boardings/stays.
