A parent recently asked us: “Can cats get Tick Fevers like dogs?”

The answer is yes, but it’s much less common.

Cats can develop certain tick-borne diseases, but unlike dogs, they are not commonly affected by the typical “tick fevers” we see in veterinary practice. In India, tick-borne diseases in cats are relatively uncommon, but they can occur, particularly in outdoor cats, rescued cats, or cats with heavy tick infestations.

Some tick-borne infections reported in cats include:
🦠 Cytauxzoonosis
🦠 Ehrlichiosis
🦠 Anaplasmosis
🦠 Rickettsial infections

If affected, cats may show signs such as:
🐱 Fever
🐱 Loss of appetite
🐱 Lethargy
🐱 Pale gums
🐱 Weight loss
🐱 Jaundice or anaemia in some cases

Fortunately, these diseases are far less common than tick-borne diseases in dogs. However, this does not mean ticks should be ignored.

The best protection is prevention:
✔ Use veterinarian-recommended tick prevention products.
✔ Regularly check your cat for ticks, especially if it goes outdoors.
✔ Keep your home and bedding clean.
✔ Consult your veterinarian promptly if your cat develops fever, lethargy, or stops eating.

We’ve prepared the attached poster to answer this common question and help cat parents understand the risks. We hope you find it useful.

🚨 FELINE PANLEUKOPENIA (FPL) ALERT 🚨

Over the past few days, we have been seeing a noticeable increase in cases of Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper) at our clinic.

FPL is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening viral disease, especially in unvaccinated kittens and young cats. The virus spreads easily through infected cats, contaminated environments, litter trays, food bowls, clothing, and even footwear, making prevention extremely important.

⚠️ Watch for these warning signs:
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting
• Severe diarrhoea
• Lethargy
• Fever
• Dehydration

The good news is that Feline Panleukopenia is preventable through timely vaccination. If your kitten is due for vaccination or your cat develops any of these signs, seek veterinary attention without delay.

Please take a moment to read this post, save it for future reference, and share it with fellow cat parents. Greater awareness can help protect more cats during the current surge in cases.

🐱 Prevention is always better than treatment.

🚨 GDV (Bloat) is one of the fastest life-threatening emergencies seen in dogs.
A swollen abdomen, repeated retching without vomiting, restlessness, collapse or excessive drooling should NEVER be ignored.

Minutes matter. Early recognition and immediate veterinary attention can save your dog’s life. 🐶❤️

🐱 Is your cat maintaining a healthy body weight?

Your cat’s body weight plays a major role in their overall health, mobility, immunity, and lifespan. Both obesity and being underweight can increase the risk of serious health problems over time.

We’ve created a simple breed-wise guide to help cat parents understand the ideal adult weight ranges for different cat breeds — from Singapura and Siamese to Maine C***s and Bengals. 🐾

Regular weight monitoring, balanced nutrition, and routine veterinary check-ups are essential for keeping your feline companion healthy and active through every life stage.

Not all weight gain and panting is “just ageing.”
Many middle-aged and senior dogs we see are being evaluated for Cushing’s disease (high cortisol levels) — a common hormonal disorder.

Watch for signs like:
• Excess thirst & urination
• Pot belly
• Heavy panting
• Hair thinning
• Increased appetite
• Recurrent skin issues

Early testing helps us diagnose and manage the condition before complications develop.

📩 If your dog shows these signs or has been advised testing, message us for endocrine screening guidance.
Early diagnosis = better quality of life.

🐾 Is your dog constantly itching, licking paws or getting repeat ear infections?

It may be Canine Atopic Dermatitis (skin allergies) — one of the most common long-term skin conditions we see, especially in German Shepherds.

This isn’t just “normal itching.” Allergies can damage the skin barrier and lead to painful infections if ignored. The good news? With proper management, allergic dogs can live completely comfortable, happy lives.

Early control = less itching, fewer infections, and healthier skin.
If your dog shows signs of skin allergies, don’t wait for it to worsen.

📩 Message us on 7058035154 for guidance on long-term allergy care and maintenance plans.
Your dog deserves an itch-free life.
