Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science (LCVSc), Assam Veterinary and Fishery University, Joyhing, North Lakhimpur, successfully conducted a 15-day (120-hour) Internship Training Programme for the students of LTK College, Azad, North Lakhimpur, from 14 to 31 July 2026.

The inaugural function was held on 14 July 2026 in the presence of Dr. Saurabh Kumar Laskar, Associate Dean, LCVSc, and Mr. Manoj Neog, Head of the Department of Zoology, LTK College. The programme was also attended by faculty members from both LCVSc and LTK College.

The successful implementation of the internship training programme was made possible through the collaborative efforts of faculty members from various departments of LCVSc, who contributed to the academic and practical training of the participating students.

The valedictory function was held on 31 July 2026, marking the successful completion of the internship programme. Dr. Prasanta Chabukdhara, Assistant Professor (Veterinary Biochemistry), Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, LCVSc, served as the Nodal Officer and Course Coordinator for the programme.

With a commitment to stand beside every life in need, a three-day Flood Relief Camp was organized across several flood-affected areas of Sivasagar district by the faculties, interns, students and employees of Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, AVFU.
This humanitarian initiative was made possible through the generous support and collaboration of the Faculties of LCVSc, Association of Assam Vets in Poultry Industry, World Animal Protection, Gramin Vikas Trust ( Payeng), Zonal Research Station (AAU), North Lakhimpur, KM Vets (Dr. Yab Matee , Arunachal Vets (Dr. Rini Riba), Urban Pets (DrKonok Keot ), Minakshi Das Meenakshi Das (Asom Gaurab), Dr. Sidhartha Foundation and Mr. Pinku Gogoi.
The camp focused on extending relief to both people and animals.
Veterinary teams provided essential treatment, medicines, health check-ups, fresh green grass and feed for livestock and companion animals affected by the floods. At the same time, relief materials, emergency essentials and daily necessities were distributed to flood-affected families, offering support during one of their most difficult times.
The smiles of those who received help, the resilience of the communities and the silent gratitude in the eyes of the animals reminded us that compassion knows no boundaries.

An exposure trip was conducted for the internship students of LCVSc, AVFU, Joyhing, North Lakhimpur, to ICMR–Regional Medical Research Centre, NE, Dibrugarh, on 24.03.2026. As part of the program, the students visited and explored various state-of-the-art laboratory facilities available at the institute. The students also had meaningful interactions with the scientists of the institute. The scientists addressed and sensitized the students regarding the scope and opportunities in the research and development fields of medical and veterinary sciences and emphasized collaborative work that could be undertaken to address and achieve the broader goals of One Health.

The team was led by Dr. Snigdha Hazarika, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Dr. Prasanta Chabukdhara, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Biochemistry.

LCVSc observed the 77th Republic Day of India . The programme was attended by faculties, students and employees of LCVSc. In his inaugural speech, Dr. S. K. Laskar, Associate Dean, LCVSc talked about the history and importance of Indian constitution. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr.S.Khargharia, Associate Professor cm DDSW, LCVSc.
