While you enjoy this adorable video of our dear baby Cookie, I wanted to talk about something important.
Over the last few years we've seen an increase in the number of online/tele-consults. While these have made veterinary access much easier to people who are in remote areas with limited resources, it's very difficult for us when someone calls in an emergency situation from another city/state.
We usually have days packed with patients and we've always stressed on how important a physical examination is. We try to squeeze in online consultations because most places don't have vets specialised to treat exotics.
We have even had some very dedicated pet parents bring in their pets from other states for treatment.
Online consultations have their limitations and can never replace a full physical examination and diagnostics. Expecting a functioning clinic to be available at any time during an emergency online is unrealistic. We try to help as much as we can but we also have to treat patients that are already in front of us. This may be disappointing to some, but our priority is the patient that's in our hands at that time.
If you have pets, please keep an emergency clinic in your contact list that you can take your pet to when needed.
We are always open to collaborating and helping vets who may not be specialised in a particular species. So please reach out to us in those cases.
We want to help all those that come to us physically or online.
Having said that, please do not expect miracles out of tele-consults for issues that need deeper intervention.
Alright! Thank you for coming to my TedTalk π
Our little Cookie will be up for adoption in a few months! So please let us know if you'd like a little cuddle bug in your home β€οΈ
