Let's talk about the role of every individual (pro or anti dog) in the creation of a stray dog population. Are there risks? Of course there are, is there accountability of the powers that be ? None.

This is not an anti- pro dog problem- this is a civic sense, common sense problem. Slapping a band aid on a severed limb will not save a patients life. Timely, intelligent, science back intervention will save lives.

To attack the weak, ignore common sense & give no reasonable solution to a “problem” This verdict is a reflection of the erosion of basic human empathy. Air quality is no longer a reality we can wish away or ignore. Our pets and companion animals are just as affected as we are. Urban animals, children, the aged are all victims of impaired air quality, a problem they neither cause or are in a position to better.

Let's take a moment to think about them and what future we are leaving for them, not to minimise the lifelong impact on our young children and adults.

Health Update on Elephant Manu:

Decades of suffering, relentless abuse, and neglect have left Manu in unimaginable pain. Every wound on his body tells a story of cruelty- scars from heavy saddles, fractures that never healed, and eyes that we hoped had some vision, but a thorough examination confirmed he is completely blind and will never see the world again. His frail body has endured a lifetime of hardship, and now, he is finally in a place where healing can begin.

At our Elephant Hospital in Mathura, Manu is receiving urgent medical care. Our doctors are trying their best to get him some relief after his long journey, they are also working tirelessly to ease his pain with wound dressings, laser therapy, and massages, and other treatments.

Many of the struggles mentioned in this article are real- especially finding suitable housing and facing discrimination.
Of course pets become family and as pet families want increasing access to public spaces - it comes with responsibility.
Basic dog training and management is outsourced by numerous families.

To have an obedient well behaved dog - you have to invest the time. Walk your dog yourself- it is a huge problem for most dogs who are handed over to inexperienced 'dog walkers.'

Dog to dog or dog to person aggression can often be (not the sole cause) traced back to dog walkers who have jumped on the 'pet industry bandwagon' to earn a living. As a pet owning community if we do not take on daily responsibilities we cannot expect 'good behaviour' on command.

Pet owners in India must realise the countries that have numerous public spaces accessible to pets come with responsibilities for owners. Beginning from well behaved pets to cleaning up after them.

Veterinary Care and products are advancing as long as pet families once again realise imitation medical products may be more harmful than helpful to your pets. Choose wisely and invest wisely, after due diligence and research.

Indian pet parents, especially dog owners, feel that India is yet to become more accommodating for pets. There are several struggles that often go unnoticed despite the ever-growing Indian pet market.
