On 04 August 2026, The Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai organized a seminar on "Building Insurance Careers through Professional Education" at its BKC campus, bringing together senior leaders from the insurance industry, academia, and human resource functions to deliberate on the importance of professional education in shaping future-ready insurance professionals.
The seminar commenced with the III Anthem and lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Shri P. Jaipuria, Secretary General, Insurance Institute of India.
Delivering the inaugural address, Shri Aditya Gupta, Secretary General, Life Insurance Council, emphasized that insurance is a profession built on trust, security, and nation-building. He highlighted the immense growth potential of the insurance sector and underscored the importance of professional education and continuous learning in preparing future-ready insurance professionals.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Kasturi Sengupta, Secretary General, General Insurance Council, stressed the need to enhance awareness about insurance and encouraged professionals to strengthen customer orientation, adaptability, and lifelong learning to support the growth of the sector.
Delivering the Chief Guest's Address, Shri Abhay Tewari, Managing Director & CEO, Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance, emphasized that success in the insurance profession requires a growth mindset, self-discipline, resilience, and continuous up skilling. He encouraged participants to embrace challenges, learn from failures, and focus on incremental improvement, noting that sustained learning and adaptability are critical for professional growth in a rapidly evolving business environment. He also lauded the efforts of the Insurance Institute of India in nurturing insurance talent and strengthening professional education in the country.
Following the addresses, Ms. Chitra Raikar, Deputy Secretary, Insurance Institute of India, proposed a vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the distinguished speakers for sharing their valuable insights on professional education and career development in the insurance sector.
The seminar featured a panel discussion on “Professional Education as a Catalyst for Insurance Careers” moderated by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Satuluri, Faculty (Research), College of Insurance. The distinguished panel comprised Shri Amit Joshi, Chief Investment officer, Bajaj General Insurance, Ms. Dhanashree Thakkar, Head, Human Resource and Distribution Training, Bharti Axa Life Insurance and Shri Ramkumar Krishnamoorthy, EVP and Chief of L&D and Channel Admin, SBI Life Insurance. The discussion highlighted the importance of structured learning, professional certifications, continuous up skilling, and industry-academia collaboration in building successful insurance careers.
The second panel discussion on “Building Future-Ready Insurance Talent” was moderated by Shri Shiva Kumar Singh, Faculty (General Insurance), College of Insurance. The panel featured Shri Abhishek Singh, Chief Bankasuurance Officer, Generali Central Insurance, Shri Aviral Chandra, President- Marketing, Shriram General Insurance, Shri Praveen Chandola, Chief Human Resource Officer, Credit Access Life Insurance, Ms. Saba Adil, Chief Human Resource Officer, Edelweiss Life Insurance, and Ms. Sunita Rath, Chief People Officer, Bandhan Life Insurance. The panelists emphasized learning agility, customer orientation, data-driven decision-making, AI and digital literacy, adaptability, and problem-solving skills as essential capabilities for the future insurance workforce. The discussion also highlighted the importance of developing professionals who can continuously learn, unlearn, and relearn in response to changing industry and customer expectations.
Mr. D.V. Govekar Asst. Secretary Insurance Institute of India concluded the seminar with a Vote of Thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
