from Three words of advice for reaching out to animal rescuers: assume the best.

Assume that if you’re reaching out to someone who does animal rescue, you’re reaching out to someone who has a huge heart. Assume that they care deeply about saving lives. Assume that if they don’t respond to you right away, or at all, it’s because they’re so busy helping animals. Assume that you’re the 10th, 20th, or 100th person to reach out to them today asking for help. Assume that if they can’t help you, it’s because they are already at max capacity. Assume that you do not know or see a fraction of what is on their plate. Assume that they might be exhausted. Assume that they might be grieving, or tender. Assume that they are a loving, kind person who is a source of good for the world. Assume that they are worthy of being treated with consideration and respect. Assume that they are human.

Because 9 times out of 10, if you assume these things about an animal rescuer, you will be right. So when you reach out to an animal rescuer, let your words be filled with gratitude, patience, and understanding. Don’t use your words to jab at animal rescuers for not being available enough, not doing more, not “caring,” not being able to single-handedly save the world. Treat animal rescuers with compassion, not just when they can help you, but even—and especially—when they can’t. And when they can’t, don’t assume the worst. Assume the best.

Reposted from Manny Me-aw has the longest blep I have ever seen.
Here he is, in a rare butt-naked pose cos we're dealing with some diaper allergies. (though we have used the same nappy brand for 4 years)
Manny is looking for a wonderful home in Canada; he hasn't found a single adoption lead in India for four years. Transport & paperwork will be arranged from our side.
He is paralysed and needs bladder expression twice to thrice a day. He is an extremely compliant Cat. And a total lovebug.
To adopt Manny, pls drop me a DM.
We are in Bombay, India.

How Alola rests, believing in the hope that ONE day she and her brother Pyroar will FINALLY go to their fur-ever home.

2 years old, Vaccinated, litter-trained, neutered, FIV/FELV negative and the most chill cats you'll ever meet.

They are owell behaved and adjusting, despite multiple foster changes & their struggles. They are full of love for the Hoomans.

While they wait, we will continue to relentlessly post about these babies till they find a home. God knows the deserve it!
To adopt them please DM us or SMS on 9136127487

Times are tough and we are barely getting by. Despite our best efforts we are once again in need of YOUR help.
Our bills from just "Dawgz" (one of the pet shops we use) between January-April is Rs.4,71,593. As mentioned, we order from other places too and have large bills to settle.
While we have cleared payments for Rs.1,95,783, an amount of Rs.2,75,810 is still pending for the above period.
Our deadline to clear all outstanding is by mid May and we need to urgently transfer at least 1/3rd of the bill by the 30th of April. We can't do without food..
Your support would highly be appreciated at a time like this. If you wish to donate directly to the pet shop, please DM.
Else you can use:

Paytm / Gpay / Phonepe on 9619948501
Or UPI on sibkhushi@upi
to help us with this outstanding amount. Pls mention "Food Bills" in your transfer note as we have vet bills, rents, and other bills to clear too and your donation may be accidentally considered for those.

Many people will wonder why our pet shop bills are so high.
We have fostering programs where all supplies are provided by us. Even for trial adoptions, we take care of all the costs including neutering, until the animal is officially adopted.
With 45+ rescue cats getting quality care 24x7 until they are adopted, costs tend to spike. Therefore, any donation, no matter big or small, would really really help us. Every penny counts.

Pyroar and Alola along with many other cats are still looking for homes.
While they wait for their fur-ever home, would you help them just a teeny bit by fostering.
Or, if you know a cat lover, encourage them to save a life and join our foster team.

Why foster you may ask.

Fostering is a wonderful way to prep a cat for adoption, allows us to know more about the cat, keeps them healthy and opens up room for us to rescue more strays in need!
SO many benefits if you just choose to foster. This comes at no cost to you, except that we require a cat proofed, netted home.

We will provide you with everything you need to be an awesome foster: food, litter, basic medical care and supplies.
And will be there with you every step of the way.

DM us today to join our foster team. You can also copy the foster link from the comment section below.

With the lockdown being tough on everyone of us, adoptions being at an all time low, you can help us sustain a rescue cat until they get adopted. We have several unadopted cats waiting on homes and even the smallest help will make a big difference.

Signing up to be a virtual parent means you can choose to send us a monthly donation ( starting from as little as 500rs) towards a particular rescue cat or towards expenses in general for whatever period you are comfortable with. This helps us immensely as times are tough and your donations however big or small will help us sustain till adoption rates get better and towards our many special needs cats who have a very slim chance at adoption but we CAN give them a good life.

If you can't adopt, Foster!

Why should I foster a cat?
By providing a rescue Cat your home temporarily you’re:

☺freeing up a spot so rescuers can divert in all their attention to another rescue that is really sick and needs undivided time

☺giving your foster cat the time and socialisation it needs to be adoption-ready

☺helping rescuers learn more about the rescue cat's personality so we can find them the best home possible based on their personality traits

☺acclimating the rescue cat to a home environment and possibly getting it used to being around other pets and different types of people.

Not only does fostering provide you with an invaluable experience, it also helps you explore the possibility of having your own pet. Needless to say, you are helping save a life.

Summer is here and HOW! 🔥🔥
A few easy tips to make sure your cat beats the heat and stays hydrated.
At the same time please remember to keep bowls of water out for the stray animals and the birds wherever possible.
It is true that we are living in unprecedented times. But we are resilient and will come through stronger.

Hope and determination, that is what we are striving for Rescue Nemo. The same determination and hope shown by Nemos father was to find him in the movie ' Finding Nemo'

Didn't think the name would translate so literally in real life.
We have hope that one day Nemo will recover. One day will be that happy day.

Five whole months (Dec to Apr) of vet visits, blood draws, antibiotics, xrays, ultrasounds, holistic meds, emergencies.. and yet.. Nemo won't stop losing copious amounts of blood in her urine. No vet is able to tell us why or how.
Nothing is working. Her kidneys have begun failing.
I can tell, just by looking at a Cat's fur, when they start having kidney issues.. Even before the tell-tale signs appear.
It kills me to see this happen to one of my own so early on. The flipside of rescuing the handicapped and the immune-compromised and the genetically weaker ones (Nemo is a drawf cat with a ton of immunity issues).
Nemo's vet thinks it is time to get a CT done in hopes of catching the source of her internal bleed. The anaesthesia for the CT may worsen her kidneys, but it's our only hope. I have decided against an exploratory surgery. She will bleed to death and in India we don't even have a lot of successful Feline blood transfusions to boast of. We don't do Blood Typing but only Cross Matching, and that is not good enough for Cats. It can cause fatal reactions. We don't have donor databases or bloodbanks or the reqd kits. I haven't seen too many successful transfusions.
I feel helpless and so so frustrated. But until things change for good, we work with what we have.

Viserion has Cryptorchidism, discovered while he was prepped for his neutering surgery.
A 1-year old male Cat with both testicles undescended, it affects less than 2% of cats. It is rare.
Viserion's anaesthesia was immediately reversed and the vet emailed me with further course of action. One of our rescue Dogs, Lucky (now adopted), had this condition, and I have seen another Dog suffer from testicular cancer in the retained testicle. But this is the first time I came across cryptorchidism in Cats.
Viserion will need an abdominal ultrasound to look for the retained testicles. Surgery to remove them will be both longer in duration & expensive than a regular neuter.
If left as is, retained testicles can develop cancerous tumors / an emergency complication called as "spermatic cord torsion".
Best way forward is to get the scans done to locate where both testicles are (inside the abdomen) and proceed with the neuter as soon as possible.
Viserion's brother Drogon is still awaiting his neutering and likely to be scheduled next week. Tomorrow I have Oggy & Olly scheduled for theirs.
The faster Drogon & Viserion are neutered, the sooner they can go for their trial adoption too. Like Milo.
I have managed the cost of their previous bloodwork, vaccines, and their food & litter this past 1 year, but it is really impossible to cover every single expense without help.
Please donate towards our surgeries if you are able to:
Paytm / Gpay / Phonepe: 9619948501
UPI: sibkhushi@upi

By donating, you not only help keep Viserion safe from further complication, but also push him a step closer towards a forever home.
