Guess what, this is not the only one. There are atleast another 5 prominent temples around India that worship dogs.

Dogs are associated with the Hindu deity Bhairava, who is a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Bhairava is often depicted with a dog as his vahana (vehicle). In some temples dedicated to Bhairava, dogs are considered sacred, and there are rituals and ceremonies performed to honor them.

The worship of dogs in these contexts is rooted in the belief that dogs, especially the ones associated with Bhairava, possess protective qualities and can ward off evil forces. Devotees may offer food and other offerings to these dogs as a way of seeking the deity's blessings and protection.
