When you love dogs and see one, you go all ga ga over that dog, hug him, cuddle him, smother him with kisses but is that dog really comfortable with all that? You invading his personal space? Some dogs maybe okay and some may not. Below are some of the safe places where you can pet a dog. But even before that, first check with the handler if it's okay to pet his dog and then you need to check if the dog is okay with any touch at all. Simple way to do this is to allow the dog to sniff your hand, if the dog backs out, please respect his decision and give him his space. But if the dog approaches you, go ahead and pet at the below mentioned places :)

Many leave the city during Diwali to escape the pollution that further worsens the already bad air quality. But there are many more like old citizens, kids, street dogs & cats, who can't escape even if they wished to. Let this Diwali remain a festival of lights, of colours of Rangoli, of the sweets and savouries, of love and kindness. I speak for and support a silent Diwali, will you!?

FESTIVAL OF KINDNESS
Diwali is known as the festival of lights. Over the years, it has degenerated into a Festival of Noise and pollution.
Every year, those of us who care about the detrimental effects of firecrackers make a pledge to celebrate Diwali as the Festival of Lights, not sound.
We, the people behind the campaign, firmly believe that change can begin with a single person. Can we count on you to support our campaign for a peaceful Diwali? Then show your support - change your profile picture for a week to the logo below. If you have already done it, reply to this post so that we can see how many people will be celebrating Diwali peacefully!
Thank you to Kiran Khalap and his team for the relevant logo.

Coconut oil is integral part of Kerala cuisine and of late we have read about the research findings of the health benefits of coconut oil consumption in humans. It's time we start including in our pets diet as well.

It would be a prudent thing to have a name tag with your contact details for your dog..... especially during this Diwali season.
And as our friend Woof Buddies suggest, if it too late for name tags, you could use these keychain tags as well! Thanks for the idea, Woof Buddies!!

Diwali Tip – A frightened and confused dog can associate the sound of firecrackers with the indoors and may attempt to get out of the house to escape the noise. Do not ignore the fact that this can happen to your dog. Play it safe by attaching an I.D tag to your dog’s collar containing your current phone number and address. If your dog happens to run away, the information on him will greatly increase your chances of getting him back.

Diwali Tip: Try not to react to the fireworks yourself. If you jump or tense up when you hear fireworks because you are anticipating your dog's fear, you may make his fear worse. Your body language can tell a dog that there is a reason to be afraid.
