A disturbing incident from Patna’s Danapur area has raised serious concerns over hotel safety and women’s security.
A 31-year-old man, identified as Satyendra Kumar from Shahpur, was arrested by Rupaspur police for allegedly entering a hotel room late at night and molesting a polytechnic student.
According to police, the victim had come to Danapur from Begusarai district with her father to appear for a polytechnic examination. They were staying at a hotel when the incident took place on Saturday night.
City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said the victim’s father alleged in his written complaint that a drunk man forcefully entered their hotel room in the middle of the night and molested his daughter.
The terrified family immediately called Dial 112, after which police rushed to the hotel and arrested the accused on the spot.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and Bihar Excise Act.
Police said another accused named in the complaint is still absconding, and a separate team has been formed to arrest him.
The incident has also exposed major security lapses at the hotel. Police will question the hotel owner, especially over why the CCTV cameras were not functioning during the incident.
Authorities have now announced a security audit of hotels in the area to ensure proper safety arrangements for guests, especially women and students travelling for examinations.
