𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: Objection to the Draft PCA (Laboratory Animals) Rules, 2026 – Request for Withdrawal

Sir/Madam,
I strongly object to the Draft Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Control and Supervision of Experiment, Breeding and Trading of Laboratory Animals) Rules, 2026, and request that they be withdrawn.
The draft allows animals of any species to be sourced from open markets, unregistered breeders and traders. This puts every animal in India at risk, including community and companion animals.
It lets laboratories approve themselves and removes the oversight of the CCSEA (formerly CPCSEA).
It allows experiments in makeshift spaces without proper facilities.
These rules undo safeguards that have been in place for about 30 years. Please withdraw the draft and acknowledge receipt of this objection.

We are deeply honoured to be one of the organisations recognised as part of the Champions of Care Initiative by Shri Anant Mukesh Ambani’s Vantara, for the work we have been doing for community animals.

Team Ashari had the privilege of visiting Vantara’s extraordinary rescue, rehabilitation and conservation centre in Jamnagar. It was awe-inspiring to witness first-hand the sheer scale, commitment and compassion with which wildlife is being rescued, treated, rehabilitated and conserved by them.

We had the unique opportunity to sit at a table with like-minded NGOs from across the country, all brought together by Shri Anant Ambani’s simple yet profound belief: “Every Life Counts.”

Vantara has pledged its guidance and expertise to the work that we have tirelessly dedicated ourselves to since 1999.

It is deeply heartening to see so many people and organisations working towards a shared cause.

We return from Jamnagar with immense gratitude, renewed hope and the reassuring knowledge that, as we continue our service to the voiceless, Shri Anant Ambani and the force of Vantara stand behind us.
