The mass massacre of stray dogs in Telangana isn't random cruelty—it's the direct result of sarpanch election promises made during the December 2025 gram panchayat polls. Candidates promised 'dog-free villages' to win votes, claiming it would solve safety and rabies issues.
Once elected, some sarpanches, secretaries, and their teams allegedly hired killers (even from Andhra Pradesh) to poison, inject, and bury hundreds—over 1,000 confirmed dead in just weeks, with activists saying the toll is nearing 1,600 across districts like Jagtial, Kamareddy, Hanamkonda, Yacharam, and more. Recent cases: 100+ poisoned in Abbapur (Feb 1), 100 buried in Yacharam, 300 in Pegadapally... all to fulfill those shameful 'poll promises.'
This is ILLEGAL. It violates the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Supreme Court orders. The proven, humane solution is ABC: Animal Birth Control — sterilize, vaccinate, and return — not mass murder for votes.
Police have booked 15+ people (including multiple sarpanches, their husbands, and hired killers), but we need REAL accountability—no more excuses, no more graves.
Hyderabad stood up at BCLHYD with candles and signs: "STOP MURDERING DOGS", "KILLING IS NOT THE SOLUTION", "SHOW US THE SHELTERS". We won't stop until every voice is heard.
