⚠️ Public Awareness Appeal from Animal Activist's of Sikkim ⚠️
We, the animal activists of Sikkim, make a heartfelt appeal to all tourists visiting North Sikkim — please do not take away our Himalayan Mastiff puppies.
These magnificent dogs are not just pets — they are a heritage of the Himalayas, born to thrive in the cold, serene climate of our high mountains. Removing them from their natural habitat leads to immense suffering and loss of their identity.
The Himalayan Mastiff (Bhutia dog) is a rare and endangered breed, deeply connected to the people and culture of Sikkim. Taking these puppies away for commercial or personal reasons threatens their very existence in the wild.
We earnestly request drivers, local guides,Police authorities and the public to act responsibly — do not encourage or allow tourists to buy, adopt, or transport these puppies out of Sikkim.
Let us all unite to protect and preserve this majestic breed that symbolizes the pride and strength of the Himalayas.
