What's on my mind this morning? Horsetail - and compost tea! I spent many years sharing information and preparing compost teas with friends here and in Assam, India. ...taking this opportunity to give a shout-out to Iqbal Iqbal Hussain, Babu Tanti, Sanjay and Rotary Club Digboi for helping to spread the word about practices that build healthy soil at Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa - Organic Demo Garden & Training Centre in Assam, India.
Long before the words "regenerative agriculture" became a part of our vocabulary, the staff at ASP were teaching and practicing techniques, including India's traditional Vedic practices, that increase the presence of beneficial bacteria, fungi and micro-organisms that we now know are essential to soil health.

....enjoyed this article about studying the benefits of growing cover-crops in between rows of blueberries, cutting the crop and applying it to the soil to increase fertility and growth of beneficial micro-organisms. This is a practice SMALL TEA GROWERS in Assam could consider taking up as well. Done properly, it could benefit the soil AND increase crop production. DEMONSTRATION ON ORGANIC FARMING AND VERMICOMPOSTING:

On 21st November, 2023, the students of Delhi Public School, Digboi visited Adarsh Seuj Prakalpa. Iqbal Hussain from ASP gave a demonstration on Organic Farming, Vermicomposting and organic pesticides production. Rtn. Arup Goswami also interacted with the teacher and student participants.
