Shot in Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand 🏔️

One of Sabz Bagh’s initiatives is also to bring about change for local farmers by teaching them to grow matar (green peas) without chemicals.

Sabz Bagh is supporting the organisation Give Me Trees with saplings for planting. We have already made and supplied to them more than a 1000 this year!

Here we see Kanav planting some trees personally with the help of some maali bhaiyas. The saplings are of Bargad, Neem, Peepal and Jamun. It is a barren plot of land in Noida that has been allocated to them for greening purposes.

Let us all take care of this planet 🌎 as best as we can!

The Dragonfly : one of the most fascinating creatures of God’s creation.

There are almost 3000 species of dragonflies - mostly found in temperate lands. They can fly forward and, as elegantly, backwards - just like a helicopter. There are three compound eyes - almost touching each other - and each eye has upto 28000 lens!!

Someone told us that the dragonflies love to visit Sabz Bagh because there are no harmful chemicals around. We like to agree! 👏👏

This freshly-picked vegetable collection looks good. Pure and organic. Tasty and wholesome!!

No, Sabz Bagh did not get the contract to carry these to the moon aboard Chandryan 3, but who knows? Maybe someday in future!

Kanav is driven these days by two keen desires.
One to help the farmer give up use of pesticides & fertilisers, and turn organic.🍀
The other is to source produce from them directly so as to ‘cut out’ the middleman, and get them their fair share for the labour. 🍊

Seen here are scenes from Sunderkhal near Mukteshwar.
Kanav has worked hard with the family of farmer Bhupal Singh who have grown ‘Kufri Badshah’ potatoes for him in three ‘Nallis’ of their land without chemicals.
Kanav and his mother help the family harvest the produce. He has purchased 650 Kgs from them, which have now been received at Sabz Bagh.

He is happy for having achieved his desire to bring about reforms. Bhupal Singh is now growing green peas and Rajma next.

On the occasion of ‘World Environment Day”, we would like to share with you our vision for ☘️

“Sabz Bagh is a work in progress where we have taken a few steps and have a few more steps to take in order to create a regenerative, restorative permaculture farm with a very holistic approach.”

The vegetables and fruits are grown through the manure that the animals create which goes back to the grow the produce again and this is a cyclical process. We believe in crop rotation, intercropping, nitrogen fixation, increasing soil and microbial life by adding organic nutritional based and holistic bio-organic inputs to the soil. We are also working to create a more balanced ecosystem where there are good pests and bad pests (only in terms of what we as humans call good and bad) so that nature balances itself and we minimise human intervention in our regular growing cycles of crops at our permaculture farm.

The Bottle Gourd is known as ‘Lauki’ in Hindi, but also has many other names such as calabash, white-flowered gourd and New Guinea bean.

This vegetable has incredible cooling effects for the body and additionally, is quite beneficial for the heart and even helps to reduce sleeping disorders.

Hours of back-breaking work in the sun , to produce such pure and healthy summer vegetables!

Three cheers to the Mali bhaiyas! 🙌
