Dia Has Convinced Her Foster She Deserves a Home — Can She Convince You? 🥹🥰

Dia is a gorgeous, cuddly, polite and sociable six-month old kitten who is looking for her forever home. Ever since she was little she endeared herself to everyone she met in Sarvapriya Vihar. When her current foster brought her home she behaved like she was born to be a housecat. If you adopt Dia you will wake up with her cuddling next to you. She will climb up on top of you and rub her face against yours. If you give her a paper ball she’ll keep herself entertained for hours playing with it. She is litter trained—in fact she uses the bathroom drain as a urinal! She is also fully vaccinated and spayed. Contact her foster Prashansa on whatsapp on 9871613431 to bring a truly special and beloved cat home.

GOT A SWEET SPOT FOR LITTLE SPOTTY? 🥹💖

Spotty is a hostel kitten, born to a mama cat in JNU (now spayed). When he was one month old, he was intimidated by an older cat and due to fear and stress he endured a re**al prolapse. He was found bleeding by a student and underwent surgery. Now he is fully recovered and is thriving! But the hostel is not a safe place for him to live, he is still a small cat and cannot defend himself! He needs a safe and loving home.

Spotty is five months old, dewormed and will be vaccinated soon. He’s litter trained and eats packages cat food. He will do great as a solo cat and also get along with other cats with proper introduction.

TNR FUNDRAISER - January 2025

Fundraising goal: Rs 51,000 (~$600) / Raised Rs 10,800 so far

This January 2025, I’m aiming to fund at least 15 spay/neuter surgeries for Delhi’s community cats. I will be working with feeders in JNU, Daryaganj, Bhogal and Sarvpriya Vihar. Each surgery costs ₹3,400 ($40), bringing our total fundraising goal to ₹51,000 ($595).

Spay/neuter surgeries are critical to controlling overpopulation and improving the lives of stray cats. By preventing countless kittens from being born into unsafe, harsh conditions, these surgeries elongate the life span and improve the quality of life for street cats.

Here’s how you can contribute:

₹3,400 ($40) sponsors one full surgery.
₹1,700 ($20) covers half the cost of a surgery.
₹500 ($6) or more helps us get closer to our goal—every bit adds up!
Our goal: ₹51,000 ($595) by the end of January 2025.

No amount is too small to make a difference. If you can’t sponsor a full surgery, your small contributions can combine with others to create real change.

You haven’t heard from me as often lately. In fact, I’ve tried to wind down this platform not once, but twice, this sh*tty year.

I never imagined losing two of my beloved rescues – Maya and Yogi – within just a few months. Yogi was the first senior cat I rescued, and would have turned 13 or 14 this year. Maya, as many of you know, was the reason this community exists.

I’ve been struggling, acutely aware that I’ve been pouring out from a near empty cup for years now. There have been moments when I’ve questioned whether any of this is worth it. I’ve had nightmares about cats I lost long ago.

I’ve shed blood, sweat, and tears. There were times I was pushed to the edge, and sometimes even beyond it. Along the way, I’ve learned lessons I never asked for, but desperately needed. Yet, through it all, there have been people and animals who have kept me steady amidst the chaos. For that, I am forever grateful.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible volunteers I work with. You’ve been the hands and hearts on the ground. I learn from you every day. Let’s keep at it :)

Thank you to the donors, too. Your support has made a real impact, helping cats you’ll never meet. That kind of trust means the world to me.

I also want to thank everyone who’s reached out with questions about TNR, both here and on Facebook. Every time I hear from someone who has successfully TNR’d their first cat inspired by our work, it makes my day yo.

I want to continue this work for many years to come, but I want to do it in a way that comes from a place of empathy, compassion, and balance. I want to still feel the joy of this work, even as I carry the inevitable grief that comes with loving these cats. It’s a balance I’m still trying to find and the next year will largely be a negotiation around these boundaries.

And even though I have doubts about what the future looks like for me, I’m proud, hopeful and grateful that this community exists. This is what will matter eventually.

December TNR Fundraiser for JNU Cats

Fundraising goal: Rs 24,900

Before I dive into the nitty-gritty of why we need your support today, let me tell you a story—one that’s close to my heart.

Last month, I got a message from Vipul, a phenomenal cat rescuer, who I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with since 2020. Vipul has been caring for cats in JNU since his student days and was one of the caregivers who stayed back during the 2020 lockdown to ensure the cats were fed and looked after. Back then, I was helping with fundraising for a TNR drive in JNU where a group of volunteers (led by Udita) sterilized over 100 cats in a few months - very impressive! I still remember Vipul tirelessly bringing in cats for surgery, even when everyone else was too exhausted to continue.

Fast forward to now: Vipul reached out again for help with a TNR drive for a colony of 30+ cats near Kaveri and Godavari hostels. (Obviously I said yes!) This spot, thanks to compassionate feeders, has become a haven for cats but also a breeding ground. To prevent overpopulation and ensure the cats stay healthy, we’ve planned a phased TNR drive.

This December, we’re focusing on six cats: Aishwarya, Maya, Jeera, Haldi, Dhaniya, and Baba. We need Rs 24,900 (Rs 3400 per cat for the CBC, surgery, post op care and ARV; Rs 750 per cat for the tricat vax)

JNU is home to hundreds of cats. While many students rescue and care for them, managing TNR costs is tough, often overshadowed by urgent rescue expenses. By donating, you’re not just helping six cats— you’re helping these student volunteers manage a substantially large population of cats and focus on ensuring their health and well being.

So please please help us sustain this effort by pitching for these surgeries. If you can’t donate or have already donated this month, share this fundraiser or engage with it?

Fundraiser for Jimmy, Lily, and her mama Jenny

Fundraising Goal: Rs 11,200
UPI: ira.pundeer@icici

Jimmy and Jenny are two community cats who found care and companionship with a young student in Chhatarpur. The student, who’s in Delhi just for their school, began feeding and looking after the food and medical needs of the cats. Before long, Jenny gave birth to a litter, including a female kitten named Lily.
The student continued caring for Jimmy, Jenny, and Lily, but things became overwhelming when Jenny had another litter. Recognizing the growing challenge, they reached out to get Jenny spayed, and in early November, she underwent a spay-abort surgery, as she was pregnant again. Meanwhile, helped find homes for Jenny’s three youngest kittens.
In another couple of weeks, Lily (Jenny’s kitten from previous litter) turned 7 months old, went into heat. We planned her spay surgery shortly after, and Jimmy, now a year old, was also neutered at the same time. Both surgeries were completed last week, breaking the cycle of reproduction and protecting the cats and the caretaker from the burden of endless litters.

With all three cats spayed and neutered, the student is in a better position to continue caring for them while they’re in New Delhi, and plan for their future when they move back to their home country.

I am raising ₹11,200 to cover the costs of these three surgeries: Rs 4,400 for Jenny’s spay-abort surgery and Rs 3,400 each for Jimmy and Lily’s surgeries.

If you’d like to contribute, please send your support to ira.pundeer@icici on UPI. Vet bills have been uploaded for transparency.

Thank you so much for helping Jimmy, Jenny, and Lily and their caretaker! 💕

URGENT FOSTER/ADOPTION APPEAL

Preferred location: South Delhi or Gurgaon

This baby was found all by himself in the middle of traffic screaming his lungs out. He seems to be about 8 weeks old and healthy. Hes eating solid food. We need someone to urgently foster him while we work on his adoption. The rescuer needs to travel out tonight so if someone can take him in right away, it will be super helpful. We will guide you with everything.

Please message me to discuss his fostering/adoption.

Mid-November TNR Fundraiser:
Spay/Neuter Surgeries for 7 Cats

Raising ₹24,200 | Raised ₹4000
UPI: ira.pundeer@icici

Hi everyone! This is my mid-November fundraiser for the spay/neuter surgeries of 7 cats across four locations in Delhi.

Here’s a breakdown of the cats we’re supporting:

Chloe and Chutki from Harijan Basti, Palam Extension: We’ve already spayed four other cats here in September and October. Chloe and Chutki are the remaining females, cared for by Khushbu. Their surgeries will cost ₹3,400 each, totaling ₹6,800.

Kiki from Shalimar Bagh: Earlier this year, we helped with her brother Babbar’s neutering. Kiki has since had kittens, and unfortunately, some have not survived. It’s time for her to be spayed to prevent further pregnancies. Her surgery will cost ₹5,800 at Dr. Husain’s clinic.

Dia/Seeta and Geeta from Sarvpriya Vihar, Hauz Khas: Dia and her lookalike Geeta are part of a TNR drive led by our co-founder, Prashansa. Dia was vaccinated earlier this month, and both cats are ready for their spay surgeries. Their surgeries will cost ₹3,400 each, totaling ₹6,800.

A male cat and a mama cat from Jamia Nagar: The male, an abandoned pet around five years old, and a young mama cat (about two years old) are both in need of neutering. Their feeder, Madiha, has contributed ₹2,000 towards their surgeries. This leaves a remaining cost of ₹4,800.

*We anticipate a few more cats from Sarvpriya Vihar and Bhogal will need spay surgeries this month. I’ll organize additional fundraising for those in the latter half of November.

**All surgery costs include pre-operative blood work and post-op care. Your support can help ensure a safe, healthy future for these cats. Thank you!
