Day 1 Update – Coimbatore SPCA & Rotary District 3206 Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive in collaboration with TN Animal Husbandry Department

The first day of the Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) Drive was successfully carried out today in Ilango Nagar, Burhani Colony and surrounding areas. Rtn Murtaza Raja was present as the Rotary observer, and he was truly happy with the professionalism and compassion shown by the entire team.

The dog-catching team used nets wherever required, ensuring safe and humane handling, and collaring was done in nearly 50% of the cases. The process—from netting to vaccination—was completed smoothly within 2 minutes per dog, thanks to the skill and empathy of the handlers. Vaccinations were administered by a qualified veterinarian.

Morning session: 39 dogs vaccinated

Evening session: 33 dogs vaccinated
➡️ Total for Day 1: 72 stray dogs vaccinated

The Rotary District 3206 Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive, officially launched on 14.11.2025, aims to vaccinate 5,000 dogs across Coimbatore.
Phase 1 commenced today at Burhani Colony on 15th November.

Daily updates will follow — this is Day 1 of our mission to make Coimbatore a safer, healthier city for both people and animals. 🐾💛

A landmark day for Coimbatore SPCA as we inaugurated our renovated heritage building and launched Project Embrace — the Rotary District 3206 Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive aiming to vaccinate 5,000 stray dogs across the city.

Grateful to our District Collector & SPCA President, Thiru. Pavan Kumar Giriyappanavar, I.A.S., for inaugurating the facility and supporting every step of this journey.

RJD Dr. S. Mahalingom, Dr. S. Mohanraj, and all officials who have contributed to SPCA’s progress over the years.

Project Embrace is led by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Smart City and Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis, with the dedicated efforts of Co-Chairman Rtn. Srinivasan. Your commitment has given this initiative tremendous strength.

The building renovation was made possible through the leadership of Rtn. Dr. Aparna Sunku, Vice President, Coimbatore SPCA, along with Project Chair Er. Manoj Krishnakumar and Rtn. Velmurugan of Andhra Builders.

Today, the Awareness verticle of Coimbatore SPCA has launched a poster& video to create awareness on SAFEGUARDING ANIMALS AND BIRDS DURING DIWALI . Honourable District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati Sir has done the honours of releasing the same .. JD Animal Husbandry Dr Thirukumaran & AD Dr Ellango were also present .

I request each & and every one of you to please share the poster & videos as widely as possible. If a 2mb data and one minute of our time can make lives of our companion animals better... then it's definitely worth it 🙏
