Blue Cross of India is a private and charitable organization, which runs a hospital and rehabilitation centre for injured and unwell stray animals such as dogs, cats, cattle and birds among others. We not only house these animals/birds and care for them, but take them to our heart. Our activities include medical treatment, rehoming, adoption, emergency pickup services and training other NGOs — all since 1964.

The 15th National Animal Rights Day was hosted this June all over the globe in over 50 countries and 45 cities in India!

Blue Cross of India facilitated NARD15 in Chennai, hosted near the District Collectorate.

Nearly 70 animal rights activists gathered to pay their respects to all the animals victimised due to human supremacy, and signed the declaration of animal rights.

Our Story

Operational since 1964, Blue Cross of India is an NGO that runs a hospital for injured and unwell street animals. We help rescue, rehabilitate and release/re-home community/street, homeless, orphaned and abandoned dogs, cats, birds, cattle, horses among others, with the aim of providing them a healthy and safe life.

WE ARE LOCATED ONLY IN CHENNAI AND DON’T HAVE BRANCHES ELSEWHERE.

Blue Cross of India provides: · Emergency pickup service for large and small animals · Technical animal rescue and disaster management · Rehabilitation centre in Guindy for cattle that are rescued from slaughterhouses · Rehabilitation centre and shelter in Guindy for stray dogs, cats and other animals and birds · Fully equipped surgical theatres in Guindy, where 1,500 dogs are operated on annually · Animal Birth Control (ABC) clinics in Guindy, Thodukaadu and Kunnam (Kanchipuram) · Clinic for outpatients 365 days a year, manned by qualified veterinary doctors · Rehoming and adoption for abused, orphaned or abandoned animals · Dr. Dog programme to help developmentally challenged children · Humane education programmes to instill kindness towards animals and encourage adoption · Water bowls as part of a project to quench the thirst of animals and birds
