The Urban Dawg was initially set up by practicing Canine Behaviour Counsellor, Devisri Sarkar with an objective of creating an in-house behaviour observation facility where dogs with behavioural 'issues' get to live in a home environment just like they do at their own homes. This enabled her to closely interact with the pet parents to understand their pets home setup and replicate the same in her
home environment so as to identify triggers in behaviour and correct them or educate pet parents on what to do differently. A passionate pet parent herself, Devisri soon evolved The Urban Dawg into a homestay where pets came to reside comfortably and meet other pets and people while their parents went on vacation. This gave the dogs a safe, open and positive environment to interact with other dogs (including her own 4) under supervision. As a result, both resident and training dogs inevitably open up to reveal personalities and traits – some positive and some not-so-positive during their stay, all of which are a study in canine behaviour duly chronicled by Devisri. The Urban Dawg is an initiative pioneered by Devisri Sarkar with the core objective of educating pet parents on the behaviour, dietary needs and communication patterns of their individual pets through audio-visuals and consultations, so they can integrate better into the family and also have a safe happy homestay while the pet parents are away. The Urban Dawg is unique in its concept as a co-parenting model for pets in terms of behaviour correction, dietary advice, boarding and day-care. It is also about education, awareness and knowledge sharing. It is not just a Boarding Kennel!
