🚫 Why we DON’T recommend shave downs unless necessary:
A cat’s coat isn’t just fur — it’s a functional system designed by nature to:

🌡️ Regulate body temperature (both heat AND cold)
☀️ Protect skin from UV exposure
🛡️ Act as a sensory organ — cats feel the world through their fur
🔄 Different breeds grow coat at different rates — once shaved, some coats may never grow back the same way, or can return with a change in texture and lustre.

✅ So what do we do instead?? At Pawpad ‘We DESHED ‘

Removes dead undercoat
Reduces volume & bulk significantly
Retains the coat’s natural integrity & function
Keeps your cat looking and feeling their best 🤍

⚠️ The only exceptions?
We recommend shave downs or lion cuts when:

The coat is severely matted
There is a medical reason and advised by your vet

Touch is powerful. But touch without understanding? That can do more harm than good. 🐾

When it comes to massage — whether for pain relief, recovery, or general wellbeing — knowledge isn’t optional. It’s everything.

Here’s why:
Muscles hold tension, compensate for injury, and can fall into patterns of chronic tightness. Knowing how to identify and work with those patterns makes the difference between relief and discomfort.

Blood flow & lymphatic drainage are your body’s (or your dog’s!) built-in healing systems. Skilled massage supports circulation, helps reduce inflammation, and encourages the body to clear waste products more efficiently.

The nervous system is always listening. Massage can calm an overactive stress response, reduce pain signals, and help the body feel safe — but only when it’s done with awareness and sensitivity.

And then there’s consent. This might be the most important piece of all. With dogs especially, consent isn’t just ethical — it’s essential. A dog who is tense, trying to move away, or showing subtle stress signals is telling you something. A knowledgeable practitioner listens. Every session should be guided by their communication, not our agenda.

Massage done well is a conversation. And like any good conversation, it starts with listening. 🤍
