Maruthy Dog Shelter Shelter for old, injured & abandoned dogs. Formerly called Anand Chhaaya & later Maruthi Animal Charitable Trust, now managed by Dogs our Best Friends.

More than a 100-member-strong canine family has its forever home in DOBF's Maruthy Dog Shelter which extends over half an acre of land. Formerly known as Anand Chhaaya and later as Maruthi Animal Charitable Trust [MACT], Maruthy Dog Shelter is now managed by Dogs Our Best Friends [DOBF]. The Shelter provides a safe, clean haven and nutritious food for dogs unable to fend for themselves on the stre

et. Blind dogs, partially crippled dogs, motherless puppies, dogs with skin problems, abandoned pets, dogs with behavioural issues, all find their permanent place in the DOBF family. Ages of resident dogs may range at any given point, between a few months and seventeen years! The dogs are dewormed and vaccinated regularly. They are also taken to veterinary clinics for treatment when needed. Covered and open enclosures with wooden beds provide the dogs adequate space to rest and play. There are two medical treatment rooms as well as a store room and kitchen for dog food. Another large room and a second kitchen are used by the three-member-strong male residential Staff that takes care of daily chores of cooking, feeding, cleaning and washing. Volunteers devote time largely during weekends to work on various projects in the Shelter. Though resources are stretched and at times a logistical challenge, Dogs Our Best Friends does its best to safeguard the well-being of the canine family at Maruthy Dog Shelter.

At first shy, she slowly foundher place, making friends

In the first photo Tinu darling, eyes closed, is blissfully enjoying the loving attention while her buddy Jack is also very happy to be close to this special hooman..
And then...😂 the moment of bliss is interrupted as Tinu sends a warning glance Jack's way as if to say "my hooman, I'm not sharing!"🤣 but Jack isn't bothered at all as he continues to look up adoringly 😍❤

Yes... Tuffy IS a very good dog except when his Mommy forgets to remove tasty treats from the dashboard... In which case Tuffy is a super good dog and polishes it all off and doesn't devote a single thought to sharing with other fur buddies in the van. 😂😂 ❤❤

Tuffy our beloved van baby, found his way to us after getting lost one Diwali many years ago—and has been family ever since.
He loves lounging in the van, especially in the co-driver’s seat, watching the world go by.
Cake is his absolute favourite, and rain? Not so much. Sweet, friendly, and full of charm, Tuffy is the heart of every ride and a joy to be around.

Super Saturday at our shelter with Impact Guru Foundation organizing a volunteering event where wonderful professionals from Oracle came and showered care and attention on our fur babies. 🥰💖 We are so grateful for the precious gift of abundant Fipronil spray... affording much needed protection to our fur babies in this season when they are especially vulnerable to various parasites. The doggies loved all the affection our wonderful visitors gave them! 💕💕
