Today is . We have reached that time of year where everyone is asking for donations - and I know it is tough to decide where to put your money. I put mine with Old Dog Haven] .

Most of the people that will see this post are my dog people. You all know me, and you know how passionate I am about dogs and caring for the dogs that are in need. I wouldn’t be a vet tech if I didn’t care about dogs so much.

Old Dog Haven is more than just a rescue. All of the dogs in their program, like Chuck, are “forever fosters”. We provide Chuck with a home until the end of his days, and ODH takes care of the vet bills. Nearly 300 senior dogs in their care that would have little hope of a home otherwise.

I am SO thankful that such an organization exists here. It hurts my heart to think of my Chuck (and my dear Iggy) not having a home of their own during their golden years.

We've been working on "hands up" for most of the year. Jello is *great* at standing up on his back legs, but holding himself up with his butt on the floor has been a challenge. He can hold it for 6 seconds or so now, and it has been so much fun watching him figure it out.

I really love teaching the dogs tricks. Using shaping techniques allows their little minds to work- and it might take a little longer, but once they figure it out- ooh boy, watch out!

Forget . We have moved into full-on

Our weather forecast has our highs below 50 all week, which means the winter coats are here to stay. I sometimes wish the dogs had a larger wardrobe of cold weather gear, so all of my photos wouldn't be "Jello in the red coat".

To battle the monotony of winter, I've really focused on transforming some boring photos into something I really like - so good to have a creative outlet.. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I made the effort to find time to do it again.

I had something different I was going to blather on about... but I noticed something this morning as I was getting ready to post this photo, and it has kinda irked me. Instagram is changing my colors.

Not just mine, I'm sure. And the shift is subtle, but I could definitely see it and I don't like it. Is it just the compression?? Or are they trying to drive us photographers mad? I mean by more than just messing with the algorithm all the time. And rearranging where the "add a new photo" button is... daily.

I did ZERO of my household chores yesterday. Instead, I buttoned up the dogs (and me) and we enjoyed exploring a couple of local parks... and we might just do it again today!

I also spent some extra time editing photos... I've been only doing basic edits, but I love the creativity of more complex edits, so I took the time to do a few. My to-do list is still long, but my heart is happy.

We have rain, showers, and downpours forecast for the immediate future. Makes it (a little) easier to stay home and actually get some house work done.

I have a lot of things that I have pushed to the side since I started work full time again. Little things add up to big things when you leave them alone for too long. So I now have a to-do list that stretches to Eternia.

How are you at keeping up with household chores?? Do you get gold stars in clutterless-ness? Or do you hide the mess in your bedroom if/when people come over?

We got in a 3.5 mile walk around a local business park yesterday, and all the fall colors gave me such joy! It was so nice to put some distance between my brain and election updates... even if it was just for a little while. And yes, I still love leaf head photos 😉

It's windy and rainy and looking like a grand day to stay cuddled up with a blanket and a book and some doggos.

I barely slept last night. Kept waking up feeling anxious, and checking the results of the election. I had a nightmare that trump won, and I was laying on the floor crying... and that was it for me for sleeping.

I know it could still be a while before all the votes are counted. We need all those votes counted. But this anxiety and anticipation is going to give me an ulcer.

I started re-reading the Shining last night. It's been a few years, and it was definitely time, once again, to visit the Overlook.

When I was in 4th grade, I devoured the Babysitters Club books. I literally must have read a hundred of them. The summer between 4th and 5th, I picked up Cujo at the library... and I never went back to kids books.
☆
It was a LONG time before I read the Shining. Probably because I saw the movie when I was 13 or 14 and it gave me the Heebie Jeebies...
☆
When I did finally read the novel, I was surprised by how different it was. How much scarier it was. How I could only read it with the lights ON. .. these days, I appreciate a good scare, and love to read in the dark... or when I am camping... alone 😉
