Some good news to kick off Halloween Saturday 🥰

Some of you may already know Rocky, a 3-year-old working-line Collie who has been living with us here at Enniscorthy Dog Training in foster since the 30th of January.

Rocky had been searching for his forever home for over a year, but unfortunately, no suitable home had come along. Rocky is a dog who needs a very specific environment with people who understand his needs.

And to say we’ve been through a lot together over the last nine months would be an understatement!

When Rocky first arrived, he had a significant fear of sticks due to his previous experiences. If someone approached him with one, he could respond by biting. Rocky also had pain in his legs, and unfortunately, during our efforts to rehabilitate him, he became severely dysregulated. For at least 8 weeks, he seemed almost constantly stuck in fight-or-flight mode. It was an incredibly difficult time for Rocky and, if I’m being truthful, quite worrying to watch.

Thankfully, through a combination of different approaches, a lot of patience, and working at Rocky’s pace, we finally started seeing progress. Slowly but surely, the loving, happy dog we knew was still in there began to come back to us ❤️

Rocky is genuinely one of the most loyal dogs you will ever meet. He’s also an absolute sweetheart. He adores other dogs, and while his relationships with people, particularly men, can still be a little rocky at times (excuse the pun 😂), once he accepts you, he will love you forever.

Anyway, after all of that, here’s the fantastic news…

𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗞𝗬 𝗜𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚! 🥰❤️

His adoption officially went through two weeks ago, and he is now a permanent member of our family. Thanks to all at Ruf Paw and their fantastic and loyal supporters, Rocky a dog who was less than few minutes from being euthanised can now live the carefree life he deserves ❤️

Rocky now knows where his home is, and whatever else happens along the way, we’ll figure it out together❤️

That doesn’t automatically mean they’re unsuitable for a social class. In fact, this is exactly the kind of environment where they can learn. Send me a WhatsApp with your concerns and I can give more guidance on suitability 😃

Simple Social is about more than just letting dogs play. We help dogs learn how to approach, interact, take breaks, disengage and settle around other dogs, while owners learn to read body language and recognise when their dog needs help regulating.

You do 𝗡𝗢𝗧 need a dog who already has perfect manners.
