Looking for a nice, close up pic of a white-coated dog with RED tear stains for an article please?! If I use your pic I'll send you a free Oculus Prime to fix the issue!! Worth β¬24!!
Saliva and tears contain substances called porphyrins. These stain light fur pink, red or sometimes brown. So they'll get that fur anywhere that leaks (eyes) or that they might lick excessively for whatever reason (bums, toes). This isn't to be confused with the black crusty stuff that can build up too, which is a fungus that loves the new damp conditions.
The solution isn't to keep cleaning the fur but to turn off the tap. While lots of things can cause leaky eyes including blocked tear ducts in certain breeds, the most common cause and certainly the first place to look is what you're putting in and on your dog. Remove all the top causes which include wheat, cereals, weird proteins, chemicals (so essentially dry food and cereal-based pet treats, which reduces how much beta-carotene they consume, the stuff they use to add vitamin A to the mix but also to colour the kibble which has serious staining potential too) but also all the topical chemicals, annual boosters for already vaccinated dogs etc. Give their system a day off, move them to raw, studies show that reduces inflammation, the eyes usually stop weeping.
For all other cases, there is Oculus Prime (https://dogsfirstshop.ie/collections/all/products/oculus-prime). It's organic, made on a mix of seaweeds and a red sea moss. It's highly anti-inflammatory, around 66% effective for weepy-eye issues, which is pretty good, considering the amount of smushed up faces with structural issues out there. It has a money-back guarantee too. If it doesn't work, you get your money back. No quibbles whatsoever.
