It's part of every human culture.
Sometimes it's quite benign. Someone hasn't fact checked their publication and got a date or a name wrong. Or they repeat urban myths such as 'carrots will make you see in the dark!'
Or maybe it's fake news in an April fool scam, or folklore delivered without that 'pinch of salt.'
A certain amount of misinformation is generally easily tolerated, if we can understand the nuance with it. It's harmless when the intention behind the delivery is not associated with any true intent to deceive. It does not cause financial harm and is not a material misrepresentation. Though it's on our internal radar of course, and we should be filing that in the cerebral category marked 'never rely on this information'
Yes, I think of my information retention like a prioritised shelving unit. With the most useful information boxed and filed between waist and shoulder height. For easy access.
Is that normal?
There are of course examples where misinformation crosses ethical boundaries Then we have a much darker category of misinformation. Disinformation
Disinformation is false information which is created and delivered with the intention to deceive people. The objective could be personal, financial, political or ideological.
I believe HM firmly hits three out of four there.
This deception invokes questions around;

๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ -These deceptive campaigns target vulnerable groups, exploiting emotional fears, social isolation and promoting institutional distrust. They tailor false narratives to match specific community identities, anxieties, language barriers or gaps in knowledge.
This is an exact fit for owners of laminitic horses and ponies.
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐บ. โ This terrible disinformation has scammed many owners so far and causes so much suffering to many horses and ponies. I believe the trimmers are the mostly deeply indoctrinated. They can see the damage and the suffering they are causing but refuse to acknowledge it. I currently hold evidence on 18 cases of severe harm to horses and ponies by HM trimmers. 7 of these horses were euthanised, as a direct result of the condition of their hooves. None of them were โlast chanceโ horses. ALL of them deteriorated badly under the โcareโ of HM. Some of them were misdiagnosed as having โabscessesโ which were passed off as normal and nothing to worry about. When in fact, this was the start of solar pe*******on, and the pedal bone was on its way through. In these cases, the owners were all told to apply nappies but donโt call the vet. Some of these cases had been at GTL.
Those who were not too late saw this campaign and got in touch. Several of these horses are now in recovery with suitable hoof care and veterinary involvement.
However, I still have sleepless nights over all the horses and owners who are out of my reach.

๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ด๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป - Self-importance, superiority and validation. A huge ego boost for someone who was booted out of hoof school.
๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น - There are several income streams to HM, including monetised videos and online โeducationalโ courses, as well as charging โtrimmersโ approx. ยฃ9k a pop for a yearsโ worth of predominantly online โtrainingโ before they are encouraged to go out and butcher hooves under direction of their leader. (Messages, phone and video calls during trims)
๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น โ Itโs not just creating a business. HM believe they are creating a movement, and we certainly see the results of this in the amount of outrage directed towards anyone who might criticise the system or the leader. Itโs a religion, with specific beliefs which require no proof or validation beyond the feeble few โcase studiesโ the leader presents as ultimate proof!
In conclusion, I want you to truly recognise the system in action here. LS preys on vulnerable people. She exploits emotional distress and promotes isolation and institutional distrust by convincing owners that she knows better than the vets, the science, the nutritionists, the trimmers and farriers. Though she must isolate you to keep this belief alive in you for long enough that you become a faithful follower. Even when your horse is becoming more lame, more uncomfortable and you donโt yet realise heโs just a vessel for validation with HM.
Throughout watching and reading the information in the online course, it became quickly apparent that this is targeted towards the more novice owners, as I expected. Though whatโs more apparent, as someone who does have an equestrian education and far too many years experience in this industry, it is clear to me this woman does not have a decent foundation of equine knowledge to pass on to others. She has opinions, and she makes many mistakes. But she delivers this with such confidence, that her target audience are often captivated and hooked.

I am amazed that anyone would even construct this crap, and disgusted that they would then sell this to horse owners.
