Interesting case involving a horse that was reluctant to eat and showing serious difficulty swallowing.

After thorough examination using a dental gag, a sharp object was palpated at the back of the mouth.

The horse was heavily sedated, a topical anesthetic was administered. This settled down the swallow reflex and allowed us better accces.

Endoscopic examination revealed a thorny branch/ brier had lodged itself deep at the caudal aspect of the horseโ€™s mouth.

Confident that we knew what we were dealing with and the the branch was removed and the horse hasnโ€™t looked back since.

Interesting case involving a show jumper who was chronically lame in front and has had a rigid, sore neck for quite some time ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿคฏ

After a lameness assessment foot balance radiographs were taken which revealed a negative palmar angle in both front feet.

After some magic from the farrier the horse came sound after corrective shoeing without having to medicate his coffin joints. ๐Ÿพ

The horse is now performing better than ever but is still slightly stiff through his neck.

Radiographs and scans of his cervical vertebrae revealed no significant abnormalities so we have elected to treat his neck with Mesotherapy to help try settle down years of stiffness in his neck secondary to a problem lower down ๐Ÿฆถ ๐ŸŽฏ

Looking forward to watching this show jumper continue to go from strength to strength.

This horse is currently sound and jumping clear rounds. We are screening him to compare with radiographs taken as a youngster to monitor for any changes and identify anything that can be addressed before it becomes an issue. ๐ŸŽ

This horse came in from the field with a nasty wound. Given that the wound was greater than 8 hours old and heavily contaminated we decided to allow it to heal by second intention. The wound was flushed, heavily debrided and started on systemic antibiotics. Regular bandage changes and good wound management helped achieve such a tidy outcome. The wound still has bit to go but we are delighted with the progress. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’‰
