Super Yellow is getting entertained by my Mum. She studied L1 and L2 intensely and about 15 years ago, she still got the habits and skills!

First canter with youngster Lyra.
It’s always a good step forward when the youngsters proven themselves to be happy in all three gates. The goal is that the horse feels calm in itself going slow or fast, the youngsters usually offer that feel quite easily. It’s up to us not to teach them the opposite. Pitfalls could be: We ask to early and scare them, or we leave it for to late and increase the chance that an outside influence causes the first canter and scares them. Or we may ask slightly to abruptly, maybe we tense up during canter and teach the horse to tense up in canter……
In my opinion the canter is the most pleasant gate, specially if the horse is mentally, emotionally and physically balanced!
So to tip: enjoy your horses canter as much as possible and obviously appropriate. In all 4 savvy’s!
Enjoy your horse,
David
