This is the reality on roads across Ireland.

🚨 It’s dangerous, distressing, and completely unacceptable.

Momentum is growing - we’re close to 10,000 signatures calling for legislative reform to keep sulky activity off public roads.

Two wonderful Wicklow Loves ❤️

🐱Alice - At just 9 months old, Alice is a sweet little girl who is slowly learning that the world can be a safe and kind place.

Having come from a feral colony, it’s understandable that Alice can be nervous and unsure around people when she first meets them. Everything is still very new to her, but day by day she is growing in confidence and becoming more comfortable with human companionship.

Alice is looking for a quiet, adult-only home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace. She will need a patient and understanding family who can give her the time, space, and reassurance she needs to feel secure.

🐶Betty - At 3 years old, this sweet Staffordshire Bull Terrier absolutely loves people. She is playful, affectionate and full of personality, the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere she goes.

Betty would thrive as the only pet in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention she deserves. This chatty, energetic girl would be happiest with an active family who will take her on plenty of adventures. She can be strong on the lead, but with the right harness, confident handling and continued training will help her shine.

She would be best suited to a home with teenagers (17+) and a family who have experience with her breed.

Do you have room in your heart and home for Alice or Betty? ❤️

You can apply to adopt them on our website 🔗nspca.ie or come visit them at NSPCA Wicklow - open 7 days a week from 12-4pm. No appointment needed.

🐱 She is sure to hate you

We currently have cats that don’t dream of cuddles and affection but of your absence and distance and to be left alone.

Their ideal homes are farmyards and stables where they can live and judge you as they please. They will demand that you feed them, provide a nice warm place for them to sleep or to just chill. Fresh clean water is a must and if you notice that they are poorly in any way you will attend to their every need.

What will you get in return?

A cat that will hiss at you, judge your fashion sense, hate your neighbours, and any uninvited guests and of course your mother in-law. They will also expect praise every time they bring you gifts of rodents.

If you can offer a suitable living environment for a farmyard/stable cat that will never like but may tolerate your dog or farmyard animals please get in touch with the our Cat Rehoming Team and email [email protected]

If you dont, they won’t care either…meeeow 🐱

Five Horses, Four Lives Lost, One Still Fighting.

Just over 4 weeks ago NSPCA Inspectors attended a shocking case involving five horses found in a field in south county Dublin.

The condition of two of the horses was so severe that, despite immediate intervention, they were suffering beyond recovery. NSPCA veterinary staff were called to the scene without delay, and the heartbreaking decision was made to humanely euthanise both horses to prevent further suffering.

The remaining three horses were removed from the field and transported to NSPCA Dublin where they received continuous veterinary care over the coming days and weeks. They were critically ill on arrival and despite every effort made, sadly two of the horses could not be saved.

Today, just one of the five horses remains in our care. He is receiving intensive treatment for a severe wound and is being closely monitored by our veterinary team and equine manager. We remain hopeful that, with continued care and support, he will grow stronger in the weeks ahead.

This is yet another devastating example of the neglect and suffering endured by far too many equines across Ireland. Cases like this are deeply upsetting for everyone involved, and decisions made in circumstances such as these are never easy, nor are they taken lightly.

The condition of these five horses was utterly unacceptable, and the suffering they endured is deeply distressing. Those responsible must be held accountable. This remains an active investigation.

Foster-to-Adopt Homes Needed for Two Special Kitty Cats 🐱

🐾Bowtie - this handsome little gentleman is as sweet as he is charming. He loves attention and would be happiest as the only cat in an adult-only home where he can soak up all the love for himself. He has a playful side, a gentle nature, and so much affection to give.

Bowtie is on medication for his skin. We believe it may stress related and hopefully will clear up when he settles into a loving home. It could also be an allergy but we won’t know until he find his paws and settles into his forever home. He may need on-going meds but paws crossed that he’ll be ok when he feels safe and happy in his home. Bowtie will need to be an indoor cat.

🐾Blossom - this beautiful girl has a big personality. She is looking for an adult-only home where she can be the centre of attention and the only cat in the household. Blossom is currently on a weight-loss journey and is doing brilliantly. She is on a diet and needs daily exercise to help her reach her goal and this will be much better achieved in a home when she can free roam around the house and burn calories.

She will also require a weight check every three weeks. She has a heart murmur but is not on any medication and with her weight loss programme in full swing she’s on the right track.

Both Bowtie and Blossom are looking for foster homes with the intention to adopt them once our veterinary team have cleared them for adoption.

Is there anyone out there who can offer Bowtie or Blossom a loving foster to adopt home?❤️

Please email [email protected] and our team will be happy to answer any questions you may have about these beautiful cats.

Arlo - super smart, very sweet and longing for love ❤️

At 6 years old, Arlo is a handsome Belgian Malinois with a heart as big as his intelligence. Affectionate, and eager to please, he’s the kind of dog who forms strong bonds with his people and loves being part of the action.

Arlo has been waiting for his forever home for quite some time now, and we would love nothing more than to see him finally find the family he deserves.

True to his breed, Arlo is incredibly smart and thrives when he has a job to do. He loves learning, enjoys training sessions, and is always happy to show off his favourite tricks - including sit, down, and giving a paw. Keeping his mind busy is just as important to him as staying physically active.

Arlo loves spending time with people and enjoys being involved in family life. He previously lived in a home for five years, but sadly found himself looking for a new start when work commitments meant his family could no longer give him the time and attention he needed.

He has lived with children before and is friendly with other dogs, so he may be able to live with another dog, pending a successful meet. 🐾

We are looking for a home with experience of the Belgian Malinois breed, or similar working breeds, where Arlo can enjoy plenty of mental stimulation, ongoing training, and daily exercise. In return, he will reward his family with loyalty, companionship, and endless affection.

After waiting so long, Arlo deserves a family who will cherish him and make him part of their adventures.

Could you be the one to give this special boy the loving family he’s been waiting for?❤️

Interested in adopting Arlo? Come visit him at NSPCA Wicklow. We are open 7 days a week from 12-4. No appointment needed. You can also apply to adopt him via our website 🔗 nspca.ie

💔 It’s Simply Cruel!

There is absolutely no excuse for abandoning a pet. Animals depend on us for their care and protection. Leaving them helpless, vulnerable, and alone is simply appalling and cruel 😠

These two poor guinea pigs were found abandoned in a small cage in a field near a house. They were both severely matted, underweight and covered in faeces. They were terrified and very stressed.

Thankfully, a kind member of the public spotted them and brought them to us. After a veterinary check-up and grooming, an incredible 65g of matted fur and dried faeces was removed from just one of the poor guinea pigs.

Exhausted after their treatment, they curled up together in a warm bed and fell fast asleep.

Owning a pet is a lifelong responsibility. If you’re not willing to look after them, then please don’t get one.
