No music - just sheer joy!

Prepare to smile a lot! The weather was fabulous today and Rose took full advantage with a loud and vocal zoom! The sheer joy of spring and her delight at seeing lots of admiring fans was a sight to behold! She put on quite a show for her visitors! Please give what you can to our Feed & Bedding Appeal so that Rose and her friends can have warm beds and full tummies. Thank you so much from Baby Rose❤️🌹

Unfortunately we are starting to run very low in stocks of feed and bedding and must appeal to our wonderful supporters to help to keep the donkeys warm, cosy and fed.
No donation is too small. Please give what you can. Thank you so much.

Wilbur
https://gofund.me/f0cda1e5
An urgent phone call to the sanctuary yesterday evening resulted in the late night rescue of this beautiful boy.
A motorist almost collided with poor Wilbur on a very dangerous stretch of road outside our local town of Raphoe. This section of road is notorious for bends and blind corners and has a very sharp drop down into a valley. It is a miracle that he was not hit which could have resulted in human fatality as well.
Just shocking and no more than 3 miles from the sanctuary itself. While Wilbur is in pretty good physical shape his hooves are in need of care and beginning to cause him severe discomfort.
A special mention to the gentleman who made the phone call to alert us to the situation, also the gentleman who got him off the road to safety until we arrived. Also one of the passing motorists who offered a dog lead as an emergency measure to help lead a very frightened animal out of the traffic confusion.
Just shocking & so close to the sanctuary. We believe that he was dumped off to fend for himself. Why?😡
Wilbur is a full stallion who will need to be castrated & microchipped. With a large number of donkeys in our care it would be very much appreciated if you could donate towards his care. Thank you.

CLOSURE
Unfortunately we must remain closed today 26/1 as our yard is a sheet of ice. Power has been restored so a big thank you to the ESB for their efforts. We are still without water & relying on our emergency supply.

Just to let everyone know that we are safe and well after the storm. We have some minor structural damage to gates and fences but overall are lucky to have come out of it unscathed.
However, we have no power or water and are using emergency supplies of water for the donkeys. We have had to travel to a nearby town to get internet access as all service is down in our area. We now have snow and ice and are bracing ourselves for another storm tomorrow which is predicted to be a lot weaker but won’t help the restoration of services.
All the donkeys are calm and well and happily Rose is seen here tucking into her breakfast without a care in the world! Thank you for all your messages. Unfortunately we will not be able to respond to any comments or questions on this post when we return to the sanctuary until normal internet connection resumes. Hope everyone is safe and well.

Final checks are done and all top doors fastened tight as we prepare for the onslaught of Storm Eowyn in the early hours. You can just about spot Rose’s little ears behind her door. It is very unusual to see all the doors closed here at the sanctuary and the donkeys seem to sense that something is wrong. The priority tonight is to make sure that everyone is safe and sound. Stay safe everyone.
