After a very busy summer we have to pause for a couple of weeks for essential maintenance. It’s also nice for the donkeys to have a short break from visitors for a little while. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Reopening on Tuesday September 23rd.

So many birds in full voice this evening on our giant donkey sculpture! Just the loveliest sound. Nature at its best. A new purpose for our landmark donkey!

Update on Nugget

We have managed to gain enough trust to get close to Nugget who is extremely thin and frail underneath his overgrown coat. He is in need of some extra nutrients in order to gain weight and build his strength so a decision was made to bring him indoors for some extra special care. This evening he enjoyed his special feed mix and is now resting comfortably in a deep straw bed. He is a lovely gentle boy who is learning to trust again and it makes us so happy to be able to provide the help that he needs and deserves. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed towards our recent appeal. We can almost see the thanks in his eyes as he gazes back at us. ❤️Nugget

Introducing Margo

There are some really pretty donkeys in our new rescue group. None prettier than sweet Margo. She is one of the bigger donkeys in the group and seemed to fare better than many of the others. We cannot tell how long each individual donkey was living in this situation but Margo is definitely one of the stronger. Survival of the fittest when animals find themselves in a bad place with the youngest and elderly being the most vulnerable. Margo does not appear to be a Mum and hovers around Grace as a companion in particular. We are so pleased with how well they are doing but it will take many months to earn their trust as most will not come close yet. Welcome to your new home beautiful Margo. ❤️

Introducing Cocoa

Cocoa is in better health than some of the younger mares but had very overgrown hooves when she arrived. She is curious and seems more confident than some of the others. She has even ventured over to the fence to say hello to some visitors today. One of the first to do so. So happy to see them settle and progress at their own individual pace.❤️Cocoa

Introducing Hilary

Another baby just over a year old. Hilary is braver than some of the others and will come close to say hello. She stays close to two other little brown donkeys and none of these three appear to have Mums within the group. They seek comfort from one another and huddle together at night. So happy to have them in our care. I wish that we could tell them that better days are coming.❤️Hilary

Introducing Grace

Grace is one of the larger donkeys in our new group. She doesn’t seem to have her own foal but could possibly be pregnant. We intend to scan the mares at a later stage to get some idea if we are to have lots of foals next year.
She is a gentle girl who often chooses a quiet corner of the field to rest by herself. Peace to relax and just breathe, good food and a gentle hand are all that is needed for now. ❤️Grace
